of basketball. As many will have played or been
introduced to it from a younger age.

Will gain a basic understanding of fundamental rules and skills of basketball using a number of ICT tools.

Students will familiarise themselves with the ball and court.

Demonstrate and provide opportunities for dribbling technique, ball manipulation and control through
obstacles and markers.

Students will be introduced to the topic of basketball through the use of an


9am Avatar. This will give students an overview of the lessons expectations
and objectives.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

Task 1:
Students will access Answer Garden and list their prior understanding of answergarden.ch
9.05am the sports rules, skills and information. Creating a Word Cloud, which will
then engage a class discussion.

Task 2:
9.10 Students will review a BBC article on the game of basketball. With the http://popplet.com/
information presented they will construct an individual Popplet mind map.

9.20 Task 3:
Using the information on the mind map they have created. They will
complete an online quiz which is shown on the Weebly website.

Task 4:
9.25 Teacher will then show students a Youtube video demonstrating lesson Youtube video:

Task 5
Students will engage in physical learning and familiarise themselves with
9.30 the ball. Practicing basic handling skills and dribbling. Referring to the
correct technique shown in the video.
Dribbling Lanes and Relays
Students dribble and down the court and chest passing to person
next in line.
Progress to dribbling between cones and using non preferred
hands.

Conclusion
Students will engage in a class discussion of how they believe the ICT
tools benefited or hindered their learning.
9.50 Students will then complete a Survey Monkey to discuss what they
thought worked well in the lesson and what could be improved.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

This will be conducted by the questioning at the end of the lesson. This
will gauge the students understandings of the skills taught and be easy to
connect with the objectives.

Students will be encouraged to practice the skills taught and do further


research to enhance their knowledge on the game.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be

Students will be informally assessed on their Popplet mind map and score
in the quiz.

Students will also be assessed on their basketball skills through


observation and questioning.
