TheSARvaluecorrespondstotherelativeamountofRFenergyabsorbedintotheheadofauser
ofawirelesshandset.

TheSARvalueofaphoneistheresultofanextensivetesting,measuringandcalculationprocess.
ItdoesnotrepresenthowmuchRFthephoneemits.Allphonemodelsaretestedattheirhighest
valueinstrictlaboratorysettings.Butwheninoperation,theSARofaphonecanbesubstantially
lessthanthelevelreportedtotheFCC.Thisisbecauseofavarietyoffactorsincludingitsproximity
toabasestationantenna,phonedesignandotherfactors.Whatisimportanttorememberisthat
eachphonemeetsstrictfederalguidelines.VariationsinSARsdonotrepresentavariationin
safety.

Allphonesmustmeetthefederalstandard,whichincorporatesasubstantialmarginofsafety.As

somewirelessphonesareusedwithcertainhearingdevices(includinghearingaidsandcochlear
implants),usersmaydetectanoisewhichcaninterferewiththeeffectivenessofthehearingdevice.

Somehearingdevicesaremoreimmunethanotherstothisinterferencenoise,andphonesalso
varyintheamountofinterferencenoisetheymaygenerate.ANSIstandardC63.19wasdeveloped
toprovideastandardizedmeansofmeasuringbothwirelessphoneandhearingdevicesto
determineusabilityratingcategoriesforboth.

Ratingshavebeendevelopedformobilephonestoassisthearingdeviceusersfindphonesthat
maybecompatiblewiththeirhearingdevice.Notallphoneshavebeenratedforcompatibilitywith
hearingdevices.Phonesthathavebeenratedhavealabellocatedonthebox.YourALCATEL
ONETOUCHFLINGhasanM4/T4rating.

Theseratingsarenotguarantees.Resultswillvarydependingontheusershearingdeviceand
individualtypeanddegreeofhearingloss.Ifahearingdeviceisparticularlyvulnerableto
