precast structures using R factor lower than those used fr cas-in-place-oncreesirucurs
Inthe proposed NCh2369 forthe seismic design of precast concrete structures thee
altemative structural systems are presented: namely, gravity loud systems, emulation of
‘monolithic systems, and jointed systems, as summarised below:
(1) Gravity Load Systems
Precast concrete gravity load systems are the most common precast systems used in
(Chile. The precast stwtural members are not pact ofthe lateral-force-essting system
land they should be designed mainly to rest gravity leads. Cast in place reinforced
concrete walls, reinforced masoary walls of stool ames must be used as the
cearhquake resisting systems
Precast coneree elements and ther connections must withstand semi defrmitons
without losing the capacity to suppor. gravity loads. Procaet reinforced concrete
frames are designed according to section 21.9 of ACI 318.99.

(2) Wet Connections (mulation)
Precast concrete strtural systems with wet comections must comply with all
requirements spplicable 10 monolithic reinforced concrete constrvtion resisting
seismic forces. Wet connections must satisfy ACI 31899, specially the
recommendation fr anchorages and spices
(@) Dry Connections (emulation)
Dry connections must be designed a song connections. A song connection must
remain inthe elastic range while the designated nonlinear regions undergo inelastic
response under the design ground motion. I the earthquake resisting system has beca
exigned exclusively with dry connections, a maximum height of 18 m oF four levels
inallowed.
