WHAT: Elon University students will dance for 24 consecutive hours during Elonthon to raise money for the
local Childrens Miracle Network Hospital, Duke Childrens Hospital and Health Center. Each participant
collects donations and dances alongside over 20 miracle children and families.
The connections participants make seem to be a powerful force behind the events popularity and retention.
As someone who started at Elon spring semester of my freshman year, Elonthon was the first organized
campus event I participated in, returning participant Eliza Upton said. It was the first time I witnessed the
strength of the Elon community and truly felt at home.
Elonthon hopes to surpass last years total of $276,720.16 and reach $300,000 this year.
The event is not open to the public. Students, alumni, and Elon faculty can register here. Online donations are
welcome.
Elonthon is part of the Miracle Network Dance Marathon Movement and began in 2003 to support the patients
and families of Duke Childrens Hospital. The movement has spread across the United States, reaching more
than 300 schools. It is based on the motto, Our generation fighting for the next: For The Kids. More
information can be found on its website.
