Startup Circuit
Resistor R503 provides startup current for IC501. The turn-on and turn-off
thresholds of the under-voltage lockout circuit in IC501 are set interna!ly at
16V and 10V respectively. To start up, C513 must be charged to 16V with a
current of 0.5mA to 1mA. These voltages and currents depend on the IC501
startup current characteristics and R503 resistor value.
OVP Circuit
R514, ZD502, and R515 are OVP components. When the input voltage
exceeds the detected point value, Q502 turns on, shutting down IC501.
Pin 1 and Pin 2 function as a clock generator. Output pins 5 and pin 6 are
active low, fixed polarity. Output pulses at these pins maintain the same
width as the original horizontal and vertical sync signals. Active low pins 7 to
9 function as a frequency discriminator. Pins 11 to 19 function as an output
mode selector. These pins control the vertical size, horizontal phase and
horizontal oscillator for every display mode.
The vertical sync enters pin 5 of IC301. Components R305, R335, C304,
D305 and ZD301 determine the oscillation frequency. The deflection yoke
connects to pin 1. The sawtooth pulse generator inside the IC can generate
a sawtooth signal through a buffer stage to pin 9. Then, the signal enters the
linearity control circuit via R307, R308, C305 and C306. VR301 adjusts the
vertical linearity. VR302 adjusts the vertical size. IC801 regulates the
pictures vertical size under different scanning modes. This circuit also
includes resistors R804, R805, R806, R807, R808 and R809. The circuit
maintains vertical size within 5 mm of these specs...

VR602 is an external, horizontal phase control. Q607 and Q608 are internal,
horizontal phase auto adjustment controls. VR601 is an internal, horizontal
oscillation control. VR603 is the x-ray protector. The flyback pulse occurs at
T603, pin 6. D601 and C612 rectify the flyback pulse, producing 26VDC at
TP1. Under normal conditions, ZD601 measures open. You can adjust
VR603 to obtain 5.4VDC at TP2. Under abnormal conditions, the TP1
voltage increases, creating a current through bleeder resistors R625, VR603
and R626. This current turns on ZD601. Next, the current flows to IC601, pin
13 to activate the x-ray protector circuit. The x-ray protector disables IC601,
pin 12. Normally, the horizontal drive appears at this pin.
Video Circuit
The video circuit includes two major parts. One is the analog video
processing circuit and the other is the video amplifier circuit.
output voltage at IC201 to between 3.5 and 4.0 VDC. This voltage changes
according to the 0.7Vpp input level. The input level depends upon the DC
voltage from the contrast potentiometer. This DC voltage appears at IC201,
pin 12.
A cascode circuit amplifies each RGB signal, in order to eliminate the Miller
Effect at the high resolution display. Resistors R230/R216, R233/R221 and
R236/R227 calculate the values of each channels gain. Coils L203, L204
and L205 are series peaking inductors. Components R217, C221, R222,
C222, R228 and C223 form emitter peaking circuits.
The output amplifier circuit stage consists of transistors Q206, Q207, Q209,
Q210, Q212 and Q213. This stage amplifies the video signal to 40Vpp.
Spark gaps SG201, SG202, SG203, SG204, SG205 and resistors R252,
and R253 are arc protection components. They protect electrical
components during a CRT arc condition. Variable resistors VR204, VR205
and VR206 are CRT cathode bias controls. They establish the CRTs white
balance.
