Curriculum Vitae

Employment History

Habitat 11/2004 – 12/2/2006

I worked in Habitat as a Sales Assistant, and also became part

of the Furniture Sales team towards the end of my time there.
I found that working with customers on a one to one basis and
helping to fulfil their requirements aided my confidence and
has developed a successful sales technique. I also become
competent in dealing with phone enquiries and solving
problems with ordering etc. Unfortunately I was made
redundant when the store closed in February 2006.

Heals 9/2007 – 12/2007

I worked as part of the Furniture Sales Team in Heals at the

beginning of my first year at Sussex University. I found the
techniques I had learnt at Habitat very useful with the type of
work I was set at Heals. I had more responsibility as I was
working solely in the Furniture department, dealing with larger
orders and more complex computer systems than those in
Habitat. I decided to leave as I was not happy the pace of
work in the store.

Carluccio’s 6/2008 – Present

I am currently working in the Tunbridge Wells branch of

Carluccio’s as a Deli Assistant. I have found the working
environment friendly and very supportive. The pace of work is
fast, but I have enjoyed the challenges it has created for me. I
feel that I have developed working in a different area of retail;
also it has taught me the importance of a strong team, and
helping colleagues through a stressful day. I am currently
working on a Part Time basis.

Personal Information

I am currently studying for my Foundation in Art and Design at

Central St Martins on a Part Time basis. I am looking to go into
Textiles Design, on either a fashion or sculptural design level. I have
always had a keen interest in fashion, especially the fabrics and how
the shapes and patterns are used in the design of a garment. I
began a degree in Politics at Sussex University, but changed course
after the first term of my second year. I have worked for UNICEF and
Stonewall on a volunteer basis, and would like to continue charity
work in my spare time. I enjoy working in a team environment, and
find it essential that the staff enjoy each other’s company. To date I
have been lucky with the teams I have worked with, and have
noticed it makes the shopping experience more pleasing for the
customer.

Health Issues

I was diagnosed with a weak form of Bipolar Disorder early in

2007, and have been on medication since. I have recently been
through a session of counselling, which has helped me create
strategies to self manage. My illness has only effected my work
once, but I worked out a system with my manager to help me
manage with the anxieties at the time. I also wear glasses to correct
and astigmatism in both eyes.
