Flooring Specifications

2. Regulations regarding flooring structure

2.1 Floor coverings

Floor coverings (1) such as clinker slabs, quarry tiles,

parquet and wooden blocks, hard floorings etc. must
not be laid underneath the machine supports on top
of the following intermediate layers (2):
slag
sand
asphalt etc.
(+ figure on page 4)

2.2 Concrete foundations

Any intermediate layers consisting of slag, sand,

asphalt etc. must be replaced by concrete (3) at least
in the areas around the foot plates used as levelling
supports. In the case of soft floor coverings such as
linoleum, xylolite (stone-wood) etc. the concrete
foundations must be raised to the level of the finished
floor (1).
(+ figure on page 4).

2.3 Wooden floors

Wooden floors must be suitably reinforced, at least

in the area of the footplates.

3. Recommendations for floor coverings in the spinning mill

3.1 Level, plane surface

Blow room in general, card, draw frame, combing

preparation, combing section:
per running metre: 4 mm
per 4 metre: 10 mm

Long machines:
UNIfloc:
Rails over full length 10 mm
Roving frames:
Over full length 15 mm
Ring spinning frames:
per running metre 3 mm
over full length 15 mm
These tolerances should be halved for machines with
automatic roving package feed.

OE rotor spinning machines:

Over full length 15 mm

3.2 Floor construction, load capacity

We recommend constructing floor structures to with-

stand a useful load of 1,000 kg/m2 (10 kN/m 2)
In the case of the UNIfloc flooring construction (foun-
dation), please apply the special regulations as The onus is on the customer to ensure that

3.3 Flooring properties

The floor should exhibit the following properties: non-skid surface that feels warm underfoot
not aggressive towards metals resilient, not ceramic
high degree of scuff resistance chemical resistant, to oil, petrol, acids and
high degree of compressive strength alkaline solutions

3.4 Suitable coverings

There is a wide variety of products on the market

which need to be examined with regard to their
suitability in each particular case. The following infor-
mation on the main groups of products may serve as
guidelines:
Covering Properties Suitability
Hard concrete High degree of compressive strength Generally suitable for spinning mills.

resistant, feels cold underfoot.
