Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

I must pass the Praxis Core Exam before I can take any education courses at UNLV,

NSC, or UNR to continue my Bachelors degree in Education. The passing scores for the Math

is 150, Reading is 156, and Writing is 162.

Exam Preparation

Preparing for the Praxis exam requires reading about what the exam will be like, what

scores are needed to pass, and what types of questions there will be on the test. I prepared for the

exams by first reading about the exams and familiarizing myself about how the test will be and

what would be the passing scores. I visited the websites the professor gave us which contained

very useful information and many practice problems. I also did the practice problems from them

ETS PRAXIS website. also rented a book at the library specifically on how to pass the Praxis

Core Exam. The book Praxis Core: Reading, Writing, Mathematics has many useful tips on how

to use time wisely and how to pass the test. The book also has many practice problems that are

similar to the actual test. For example, the book had a vast amount of Math practice problems I

was able to do, and in this way prepare myself more effectively. Because the book had so many
problems and many advice, I knew how the test was going to look like and it helped me prepare

better.

Exam Results

In Reading, I scored in the 48% range, which means that I need improvement and I am

not likely to pass when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Writing, I scored in the 70%

range, which means I am at the borderline and I am close to either passing or failing. In Math, I

scored in the 75% range which also means I am at the borderline of passing and I need to study a

little bit more to make sure I pass the test.

Future Exam Preparation

In order to do better in the official Praxis Core Exam, I will study a lot harder and for

longer periods. I will make a schedule for studying times and days, and I will do many practice

problems for all of the three subjects until I get them all correctly. I will also continue to read the

book Praxis Core: Reading, Writing, Mathematics that I rented at the library to help me prepare

for the exam. I will also use other resources like Ed Ready for Math and I will register for Praxis

Core Review courses at CSN. I truly believe that by doing all of these things I will be very

prepared for the exam because I will learn how to do similar problems that are on the real test

and I will learn useful strategies.
