V. Form Test
1.DC high voltage ( depend on rated voltage and core number of cable ) 2 set

Check the battery of Hi-leakester before test, if the indicator of battery at the red zone it's mean the battery need to
charge.

2. SETTING OF TESTER EQUIPMENT

Set the tester equipment at near of tested cable but still in safe zone area.
Consider to use long cable lead wire if space area is not available.
Make sure all cable connection is correct refer to tester instruction manual.

3. SECURE TESTING AREA
Make sure both area of termination tested cable is safe. End of termination tested cable shall be guarded by
someone, and make communication each other by using handie talkie.
If necessary the test area shall be guard by safety bariccade.
Make sure gap of cable terminal is safe ( 20cm ).
Make sure the terminal and isolation cable at the clean condition. If there is not, please clean the terminal and
isolation cable by using the wastecloth and alcohol.

4. CONFIRM THE TESTING AREA IS SAFE

5. MEGGER TEST
Do the meggering test of cable before the leakage current test.
Detail of megger test / insulation cable test is refer to HV form test.
Discharge the conductor of cable after meggering test by using discharge cable, and don't forget to use HV hand
glove.

6. FIND PROBLEM INDICATION

Find Any Problem
If find any problem ( such as zero / small measurement, flash over) testing shall be stopped and check by visual
inspection kind of problem.
Not Find Any Problem
If not find any problem, the high voltage cable test procedure can continued.

7. STOP AND INVESTIGATION

Find dan handle the problem immediately.
After handle the problem, restart the high voltage cable test procedure from preparation step.

8. HV CABLE TEST
Confirm the power and high voltage switch at the position off.

Confirm the change over switch at the position ammeter

short. Confirm the output voltage switch at the position min.

Make equipment connection as the picture above (metode 1 or metode 2).

Metode 1 Metode 2

Take of the protection cap from the attaced cable. Make sure the attached cable at the clean
condition. If there is not, please clean the attached cable by using the wastecloth and alcohol.
Connect the attached cable to the output terminal and earth terminal.

Connect the cable clips to the conductor of the cable.

Conect the attached lead wire for an external recorder, and insert the plug to the recorder.
(Set voltage convertion ratio of recorder 1A/10mV)

Put the power on.

Put the high voltage switch on.

Set the change over switch at the most suitable leakage range. (One of x 100, x 10, or x 1 range).
Reading the value of leakage current, adjust the output voltage slowly.
Voltage is impressed on the measurable object by turning the output voltage adj. to the clock wise slowly. Adjust it
to the preset voltage.

Check the conductor of cable by using DC voltage detector, and don't forget to use HV hand glove.
Do measurement until 10 minutes, and input the data into the form test.
After measurement finish, change over switch to the ammeter short.
Turn the output voltage adj. to counter clockwise slowly and set at min.

Put the high voltage switch off. (The object is discharged by built-in earthing device automatically for 90
seconds). Put the power off.

Discharge the conductor of cable after leakage current test by using discharge cable, and don't forget to use HV
hand glove.

9. FIND PROBLEM INDICATION

Find Any Problem
If find any problem ( such as big measurement, flash over) testing shall be stopped and check by visual inspection
kind of problem.
Don't Find Any Problem
If don't find any problem, the high voltage cable test procedure can continued.

10. STOP AND INVESTIGATION

Find dan handle the problem immediately.
After handle the problem, restart the high voltage cable test procedure from preparation step.

11. MEGGER TEST

Do the meggering test of cable after the leakage current test.
Detail of megger test / insulation cable test is refer to HV form test.
Discharge the conductor of cable after meggering test by using discharge cable, and don't forget to use HV hand
glove.

12. UNINSTALL OF TESTER EQUIPMENT

After finish the test remove each connection, uninstall all of tester equipment and put back each equipment (operating
part) in storage condition.

13. EVALUATION
According to the result of high voltage cable test, quality of insulation cable tested can judged.
RESULT JUDGEMENT
Test voltage 3.3 kV ---- 10.35 kV (New Cable) (10 min) -
6.6 kV ---- 20.7 kV (New Cable) (10 min) -
Leakage current Less than 1.0 A Good
1.0 A ~ 10 A Caution
More than 10 A Not good
Ratio of polarization More than 1.0 Good
Less than 1.0 Not good
