FOR READ WRITE ACCESS:

IN RUN MODE GATENB AND GATEDISB BLOCKS TO ALLOW READ AND WRITE
ACCESS TO TRICON MEMORY AND OUTPUT POINTS. WRITE TO INPUT POINTS
IS NOT ALLOWED.

DETERMINED BY FUNCTION.

Strategy for communication of ITR 11:

1. First of all connect Ethernet cable to the system.
2. Check the key switch is on the program mode in the start, after that it will be in the Run mode.
3. Check the dip switches on the MP panel front to set the appropriate node number, for ITR 11
SW1=0 and SW0=B
4. Set the IP address of Tristation PC to the same domain as of tricon Controller IP address.
5. Set the IP address of NET 2 port in TCM set up for both primary and secondary as NET 2 primary
is 192.168.3.13 (primary or left card NET 2) and NET 2 secondary is 192.168.4.13 ( secondary or
right card NET 2).
6. Set the IP address and node number in Tristation communication tab, the IP address should be
same as the NET 2 primary slot, for redundancy we have to change the IP address manually to
Secondary NET 2 and connect Ethernet to that.
7. Use Download All to download the application and create the backup of project.
8. After the application downloaded do check the Commands portion of controller panel to see
change state to download all and also the comparison with last download.
9. In Commands menu and Project menu we can also check the disabled points.
10. If the node number has to be changed then prepare for complete shutdown and pull out the
processors and TCM cards.
11. After changing the node number on the MP dip switches, wait for at least one minute and
reinsert the MPs and cards.
12. In Tristation communication screen specify the node name, node number and IP address.
13. Wait for pass indicators on MPs and TCMs to illuminate.
14. In Tristation commands click Download All.

Strategy for serial communication to Tristation PC:

1. First of all go to TCM set up and go to Serial port to set Tricon controller as MODBUS slave RTU.
2. Set the parmeters like Baud Rate, stop bits, parity.
3. These parameters should exactly match the parameters set by DCS Mater and slave node ID
should be same as set by Master.
4. For serial connection from Tristaion PC 25 pin to 9 pin converter can be used and also RS 485 to
RS 232 port adapter should also be present if needed as laptop port is RS 232.
5. Tristation use by default recommended Port 4 (COM 4) for communication.
6. Go to controller tree, confugration and then check serial communication and define the port
number and Baud rate.
Connecting to the Tricon Controller When the Network Is Down:
When network communication has been interrupted due to hardware or other problems with
the network, the serial connection can be used as a backup means of communicating with the
Tricon controller. Once the network problems have been resolved, you should restore the
network connection to the Tricon controller.

If you misconfigure the Access Control List, you could accidentally lock yourself out of a network
connection to the Tricon controller Once you enable TCM client access control by selecting the Enable
Access List check box, you must configure at least one client with TriStation Read/Write access before
you save the configuration.

Strategy for serial communication to MASTER (DCS):

1. A Tricon serial port can act as a master, slave, or combination master/slave with these physical
features:
Point-to-point or multi-point network topology
RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 communication interface
2-wire (half duplex) or 4-wire (full duplex) cables
2. In TriStation, open your project and then expand the Controller tree, double-click Configuration,
and expand Hardware Allocation.
3. Double-click the slot where the TCM module is installed and then click Setup.
The Enhanced TCM Setup dialog box appears.
4. Click the Serial Ports tab
5. For MODBUS slave, check the MODBUS write checkbox.
6. Do ask for connection termination option that is resistor, pull up etc.

For TCP slave:

Go to Modbus TCP tab

1. Select MODBUS TCP slave net.

2. NET 2 check.
3. TCP Port number 502.
4. Check the PORT Write Enabled.
5. For receiving data from any MASTER you can give IP address 0.0.0.0
6. To receive data from defined MODBUS master, enter the specific MASTER IP address.
