Effect of Point Injection Method on Gastric Mucosa Barrier in Rats with Chronic Atrophic Gastritis
SUN Mao-feng (:~,],~J~r), WANG Yin-ping (_E ~[,'~), FAN Gang-qi (~l~,])g), et al
Abstract Objective: To observe the effect of the point injection method on the gastric mucosa barrier in
rats with chronic atrophicgastritis. Method: Rat models with varying degrees of chronic atrophic gastritis
were made using MNNG in different concentrations. Equal amounts of Huangqi (Radix Astragali) injection
and Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) Injection were mixed and injected into the point Zusanli (ST 36) to
observe the effect of the injection on the pathological change, hexosamine of the gastric mucosa and the value
of phospholipid. Result: The indexes of the gastric mucosa damage, atrophy, metatypical hyperplasia, etc.
increased with the increase of the concentration in model making. In the point injection group, marked
improvement was detected in gastric mucosa damage and other related pathological changes ( P < 0.01). With
the increase of the concentration in model making, hexosamine and phospholipid of the gastric mucosa
assumed negative correlation (P < 0.01). Conclusion: With the increase of the severity of chronic atrophic
gastritis, the values of hexosamine and phospholipid drop significantly and the function of the gastric mucosa
barrier is impaired. Point injection can markedly increase the values of hexosamine and phospholipid and
9revent the occurrence of chronic atrophic gastritis by reinforcing the gastric mucosa barrier.

Abstract Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture therapy for treatment of
chronic atrophic gastritis. Methods: According to the theory of TCM, 36 cases of chronic
atrophic gastritis were differentiated and treated by acupuncture. Gastroscopy and
electrogastrograph (EGG) of the body surface, gastric acid and pepsin, blood gastrin, blood
prostaglandin E (PGE), gastric mucosal cells and G cells are recorded. Results: Acupuncture
therapy had a better effect in improving clinical symptoms, the markedly effective rate was 97.
2% and the disappearing rate of clinical manifestations 97.02%i after acupuncture treatment,
blood PGE concentration increased; gastric acid secretion increased; gastric dynamics was
enhanced and the amplitude of EGG rose; acupuncture could significantly facilitate secretion of
gastrin. Conclusion: Acupuncture is a convenient treatment method for atrophic gastritis with
quick effect and without side effects.

Effects of Acupoint-injection of Huangqi and Danggui Injection on Gastric Mucosai Blood Flow in Chronic
Atrophic Gastritis Rats
WANG Yiwping (:X ~.~), SUN Mao-feng (~'J'~4"), FAN Gang-qi (~ ~'])g), et al.
Abstract Objective: To investigate the effects of acupoint-injection of Danggui (Radix Angelicae
Sinensis) injection and Huangqi (Radix Astragali) injection on blood flow of the gastric mucosa in chronic
atrophic gastritis(CAG) rats. Methods: SD rat CAG model was made by feeding the rats with different
concentrations of N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) continuously for 10 weeks. 60 CAG rats
were randomly assigned to model group I (40 g/mL MNNG, n= 15) and model grouplI (60 t~g/mL MNNG, n
= 15), acupoint injection group I (40 gg/mL MNNG, n = 15) and acupoint injection group II (60 t~g/mL
MNNG, n = 15). In addition, other 10 normal rats were used as control group. In these two acupoint-
injection groups, the mixture solution of Huangqi and Danggui injection(0.1 mL) was injected into unilateral
"Zusanli" (ST 36), once every other day, continuously for 20 weeks. Pathological changes of gastric mucosal
tissues (the tissue sections were stained with HE method) were examined and gastric mucosal blood flow was
then determined. Results: Along with the increase of the concentration of the administered MNNG, the
degrees of gastric mucosal injury (shallow and deep erosion, ulcer) were increased significantly ( P < 0.05) and
the gastric mucosal blood flow in the anterior region, the body part and the anterior region of the stomach
decreased remarkably in comparison with normal control group ( P < 0.01), which presented a negative
correlation between the mucosal injury and the blood flow (P < 0.05); pathologic changes of mucosal injury
index, atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia of the gastric mucosa increased significantly ( P < 0.05). In
acupoint-injection groups, the degrees of the above mentioned gastric mucosal injury were remarkably
improved ( P < 0.01) and the gastric mucosal blood flow volume was significantly increased in.comparison with
the corresponding same-MNNG-concentration model groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The decrease of gastric
mucosal blood flow plays a key role in pathogenesis of gastric mucosal injury, atrophic and gastric
precancerous changes. Acupoint-injection therapy may prevent and treat CAG by improving gastric mucosal
blood flow supply and promoting repair of the injured gastric tissue.

Abstract: In the treatment of 80 cases of the patients with deficient and cold pattern in the
spleen and stomach by external application of herbal paste on the acupoints, the results showed
remarkable effect in 52 cases, improvement in 24 cases, failure in 4 cases and the total effective

Jianjing (GB 21), and adopted manual techniques such as Yizhichan-Thumb waving pressing,
An-pressing, Rou-stationary circular pressing, Nie-pinching, Nian-finger twisting, Na-holding,
Yao-rotation and Cuo-palm twisting to warm and dredge meridians and collaterals, promote the

Abstract Purpose: To investigate the clinical efficacy of blood-letting puncture and cupping in
cooperation with acupuncture and moxibustion for treating Ramsay Hunt syndrome. A
treatment group of 32 cases was treated by blood-letting puncture with plum-blossom needle
and cupping in cooperation with acupuncture and moxibustion and a control group of 32 cases,
with acupuncture and moxibustion, and andaciclovir. Results and conclusion: The cure and
marked effectiveness rate was 81.2% in the treatment group and 56.2% in the control group
after 4 courses of treatment. It was higher in the treatment group than in the control group (P
< 0.05). The short-term otalgia-relieving rate was also significantly higher in the treatment
group than in the control group (P < 0.01).

Eye Acupuncture
Eye acupuncture was founded basing upon the famous ancient doctor H U A Tuo's theory of Diagnosing
Disorders by Examining Eyes. In the therapy, the orbital cavity is divided into eight zones consisting of
thirteen acupoints, which are termed with the names of the Zangfu organs. The eight zones arrange deasil on
the left eye, and widdershins on the right eye. Eye acupuncture could be used to treat many disorders
especially having good effects on various pain and brain diseases.

Abstract: Sixty cases of simple obesity of stomach-intestine excessive heat type were
randomly divided into acupuncture-Tuina group and single acupuncture group, 30 cases in each
group, and were given acupuncture-Tuina and single acupuncture respectively. The clinical
effects of two groups were analyzed and compared by obesity and fat indexes before and after
treatment. The total effective rates in acupuncture-Tuina and simple acupuncture group were
90.0% and 73.3% respectively. The effect of acupuncture-Tuina in treating simple obesity with
stomach-intestine excessive heat type was satisfactory, and better than that of acupuncture(P <
0.05).
