DESCRIPTION
1 - Data and RPS connectors
The MPR-LH MPT-HLS module has two data ports that can support electrical or optical cables
The GE port is used for data
The GE RPS is used to support radio protection switching (RPS)
Each MPT-HLS requires an MSS radio port data connection between the radio port in the MSS to the MPT-HLS
in the MPR-LH.
1+1 RPS configurations require an RPS connection between the main and spare MPT-HLSs in the MPR-LH.
The high & low-rack data connections (indicated in red) and RPS connections (indicated in blue) in a
fully equipped ETSI rack.
2. Bend the cable slightly downwards and route the cable below the RTs.
This will allow you to remove other RTs during routine maintenance without having to unplug the cable.
3. Route the cable to the adjacent cable duct on the rack, using the left side for MPT-HLS modules 1 to 5,
and the right side for MPT-HLS module 6-10.
5. For RPS protection connect two adjacent RTs. Use the shortest cable lengths available.
3 - XPIC Connector
The MPT-HLS modules support XPIC. Two RTs must be connected to enable cross-polar signal cancellation.
Intra-rack connections between two RTs on the same sub-rack (in red)
Intra-rack connections between two RTs on different sub-racks (in blue)
Inter-rack connections between two RTs on different rack (in purple)
For intra-rack connections for RTs on the lower subrack, the 3 m cable is always sufficient.
Route the cable from one MPT-HLS to the cable duct on the adjacent side of the rack. Pass the cable down
the duct to the bottom of the subrack, then across the base of the rack to the duct on the other side of the
rack. Route the cable upwards and extract it from the duct adjacent to the other MPT-HLS. Any excess cable
can be managed by rolling up the cable
and putting it in the free space at the base of the MPR-LH subrack.
There is no free space in the upper subrack to manage excess cable. Alcatel-Lucent recommends that you
use a 5 m cable and route the cable to the cable barrel above the rack.
Route the cable from one MPT-HLS to the cable duct on the adjacent side of the rack and pass the cable
upwards towards the barrel. Pass the cable down the duct on the other side and extract it adjacent to the
other MPT-HLS
5 - XPIC Configuration
1 - In the Polarization field select the polarization to be used by the radio channel (Vertical or Horizontal).
2 - Open the XPIC Configuration menu by clicking the XPIC Configuration button in the Tool bar.
3 - Now in the Associated Interface field will appear the radio channel associated in the XPIC
Configuration
4 - By clicking on the icon on the right of the Associated Interface field you can navigate to the
associated radio channel menu.
Placement/adaptation of MSS sub-rack into the LSY 21 rack is achieved through proper brackets
(3DB18181AAAB for MSS8). The brackets shall be mounted on the MSS8 sub-shelf prior to mount it on the
system rack.
3-Two cords 3CC52209AAAA shall be used for the supply connections of the MSS8 sub-shelf.
The cable is terminated at one end with the connector for the MSS8.
The other end is terminated with the special faston for the connection to the 3DB05602AA LSY TRU terminals.
In case of usage of another TRU the fastons shall be removed by cutting the wires.
4-Insert the cables in the duct (left side) and drive them toward the top of the rack. Pass the cables from the
backside into the TRU
To create a unit select the slot. The setting tab-panel, shown in the figure, opens.

1- Shut down the fan module acting on the two breakers (battery A and B) on
the TRU
2 - Remove the RX branching cover from the rack by unscrewing the four screws
*dont remove the nuts from the rack. They can be used for the placement of the new RX branching
cover (see 2.2.3)
3 - Unplug the two supply cables and the two CAN-BUS cables as well [see note
1]:
6 Before to place the new fan support in the same position of the old one.
To do it, use the same nuts on the rack that were used for the old fan unit. But prior the installation
7 - A shock absorber rubber band must be placed and sticked to the internal side of the back cover of the
rack.
The position has to be in the middle of the two nuts for the fan support fixation
8 - In configurations where the Base band shelf will stay in place the gasket 3DB80783AAAA must be
applied
This item is contained into the 3DB80781AAAA Kit of cover branching. S tick it in the bottom side of the Base Band sub-shelf as indicated in the
following pictures:

For New MPR-Long Haul, Fan support must be installed in dedicated positions numbered to correspond with the mounting
holes for the ETSI 21 rack and are labeled on the lateral frame of the rack.
Positions N06 and N07 must be used when MPR-LH subracks are installed in the high position.
Positions N51 and N52 must be used when MPR-LH subracks are installed in the low position.
2. Each MPR-LH subrack is cooled by a fan assembly that has one or two fan units, depending
A fan support shelf with a single fan unit is used to cool up to five RTs on the same side of the subrack (homopolar
configuration)
A fan support shelf with two fan units must be used to cool RTs in both sides of the subrack
Each fan unit has a two supply inputs: Batt. A and Batt. B. Picture (07)
1. Identify the breakers in the TRU slots that correspond to the fan positions that you need to install
For New TRU two 1mmsq zip cables (1AC007800068) must be equipped with ferrites & terminated with connectors
(included into the fan)
For Last version of TRU 3DB056024AA use the 3CC52208AAAA pre-assembled Fan unit power cord terminated with
special fastons for the connections on the TRU. The other end is free and must be terminated with the connector for the
plug-in to the fan unit. Go to Step 5
2. Connect the blue cable ( - ) from the equipment to the Batt. A breaker.

b. Bend the cable again 90 and direct it toward the top of the rack for connection
to station ground.
c. Connect the blue cables (-) to the power clamps at the left side (battery A) end.
Direct them toward the rear and then toward the top of the rack.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional battery A breaker you need to install.
In case of addition of new transceivers with respect to the old installation the branching section must be
upgraded through the addition of the TX/RX/(RX DIV) circulators and filters relative to the new channels to be
introduced.
1-System ready for expansion: For the branching expansion in this case it is needed the addition of the filters
only (TX, RX and eventually diversity) at the right frequency for the new channels. To add a channel to the
branching:
1) Remove the metallic plate of the not used circulator immediately after the last used one in the TX
section.
2) Mount the filter corresponding to the new TX frequency.
3) Repeat the same operation on the next circulator in case of more than one channel expansion.
4) Perform the same operation in the RX (and eventually in the RX Div) branching section.
Note 2: M4x10 screws are used to fix the filters to the circulators. Use the torque force reported during
tightening
