Projects
02/2012 present Regional Scale Model of gas (and oil) generation and storage in black
shales of the Netherlands and NW German basins
This is a follow up project also incorporated into the GASH initiative. The main
goals are similar to the ones of project 3D numerical basin modeling of the
Lower Saxony Basin, NW-Germany.

02/2011 11/2012 3D numerical basin modeling of the Lower Saxony Basin, NW-Germany
This project is incorporated into the GASH Gas Shales in Europe initiative
(Project sponsors: ExxonMobil Production Deutschland GmbH, GDF SUEZ
E&P Deutschland GmbH, Wintershall Holding GmbH, Total, Vermilion Energy,
bayerngas norge, Repsol, Marathon Oil, Statoil, Schlumberger).
My role was to compile a 3D high resolution model, reconstruct the burial, thus
pressure and temperature history and to assess maturity and shale gas
potentiality of the most important source rocks in NW-Germany.
11/2009 03/2010 Dynamics of complex sedimentary basins under varying stress conditions
by example of the CEBS,
DFG (German Science Foundation) and DGMK (German Society for Petroleum
and Coal) funded project. (Project advisors: ExxonMobil Production
Deutschland GmbH, GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH, RWE Dea AG,
Wintershall Holding GmbH)
A high resolution 2D model was compiled that reaches from the Osning thrust
in the South through the Lower Saxony Basin and the Soltau Block to the
Central Glckstadt Graben. Considering the characteristic distribution of the
different gas provinces in this area, formation and accumulation of
hydrocarbons, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide was modelled besides simulation of
the burial history and temperature field.
