1.4 Diffusion or Innovations & Change

Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and
for managing the change process in schools. (PSC 1.4/ISTE 1d)

The attached artifact is an Action/Evaluation Plan that was formed in conjunction with the
SWOT analysis that was performed at Collins Hill High School. The plan was developed and
designed to have goals and a plan to help reach those goals. After developing the goals there is
also an evaluation method for how the effectiveness of the plan will be measured. The action
plan contains components such as strategies, timeline, budget, and staff responsibilities. The
project required research to back the strategies. Data was also used to make decisions for this
action plan that was collected through multiple methods.

This artifact demonstrates my mastery of standard 1.4 by forming a plan over multiple projects
through research to form strategies to implement to make my school more effective at
implementing technology and increasing student learning. I used feedback from stakeholders
through previous projects in this course and others that guided my decisions and
recommendations for the school. The plan that I recommended would increase professional
learning in the school building in attempt to increase the teacher dispositions as well as the
amount of technology integration in the school building. The decisions would also target digital
equity by ensuring equal access for both low SES groups and genders. The action plan would
be back by the administration and the PLC groups and would be monitored by the
administration.

Through this experience I learned that communication is key. It is important to gain stakeholders
input and collect data to back the decisions of the action plan. I learned how to combine multiple
plans and research to make decision to improve school effectiveness and student learning. The
action plan allowed me to reflect on the different areas of the school and make decisions that
could help improve these areas.

This experience benefits school improvement by setting goals for different areas in the school to
improve school and its integration of technology. This would benefit the staff to have specific
goals to focus on. This would also have policies in place to monitor the effectiveness of the plan.
If the plan if effectively implemented the overall student learning will increase and the school will
reach digital equity with all. This success of this plan will be assessed through the evaluation
methods listed for each goal in the plan.
