As a senior publishing executive, I have significant experience in:(1)
magazine/online circulation and advertising sales, public relations,
communications, writing/editing and marketing;(2) news reporting, web
development, e-commerce, web optimization, on-line subscription
automation, editing of educational materials and e-mail marketing; (3)
financial matters, budgeting, modeling, spreadsheets, and business
plans; and (4) full leadership responsibility for the operation of a
magazine. I am also the founder, editor and publisher of worldpress.org,
an international news web site, which I founded in 1995 and fully
launched in 1997.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

WORLDPRESS.ORG 4/04-Present
Founder and Owner
• Founder, owner and operator of www.worldpress.org, an online news
publication focusing on world affairs, with over 200,000 unique
users and 500,000 page views per month.
• Manage a staff of six, and 300 free-lance correspondents,
translators and contributing editors worldwide.
• Created a research division called World Press Desk, a Freelance
and Jobs section, and a web design/web optimization department
for added revenue.
• Systems Knowledge includes PowerPoint, Excel, MSWord, HTML,
Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

President and owner
• Work with many clients on long and short-term projects. Clients
include Education Week, Telephone Systems International, Ariana
Television, Afghan Wireless, Ecomsolutions.net and
Theaternewsonline.com.
• Services include circulation, modeling, business plans, e-
commerce, web design/development, writing/editing, press

Publisher
• Established marketing goals to increase share of market and
profitability for the nonprofit magazine and web site.
• Developed and executed circulation marketing plans and programs
to ensure the profit, growth and expansion of the monthly
magazine and online circulation.
• Responsible for web site development and maintenance; web
analysis, web optimization and web marketing to increase web site
traffic, including development of online circulation materials.
Developed online advertising and e-commerce systems; developed
and maintained an on-line subscription automation system.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of e-mail
marketing campaigns.
• Sold magazine/online advertising for the organization and
increased online advertising revenue in 2009 by 68% vs. 2008.
Increased net revenue per advertising page by 444% in 2009.
Additionally, by eliminating advertising pages that did not make
financial sense, I was able to lower print production expenses by
almost 50%.

• Responsible for operating a nonprofit, 60,000 paid circulation
monthly magazine focusing on world affairs.
• Supervised and directed the day-to-day activities of a 20-person
staff, plus 400 free-lance correspondents worldwide.
• Planned, administered and reconciled a $3M annual budget.
• Responsible for circulation/subscription marketing.
• Responsible for magazine printing, direct mail, advertising sales,
and other ancillary revenue.
• Founded the web site worldpress.org, which went from 50 unique
users to 900,000 users a month by 2006. Worldpress.org named as a
top 200 web site by PC Magazine.
• Automated web site for renewals and payments, resulting in lowered
postage, printing and letter-shop expenses of 35%.
• Developed and launched an award-winning wall map for the education
market that was successfully used as a premium in our direct mail
campaigns.

NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE 1981-1989


Director of Circulation Promotion
• In charge of printing, creative and test development for direct
mail, renewals, conversions, gifts and insert card promotions.
• Planned, administered and reconciled a $10 million annual
promotion budget.
• Purchased all premiums used for circulation marketing with an
annual premium budget of over $3 million.
• Developed and implemented the production of reprinted magazine
material from Newsweek for premium usage, which ultimately
eliminated electronic premiums and replaced them with editorially
driven products, resulting in a savings of over $3 million dollars
a year. Developed and implemented educational material, which
provided additional revenue from the school market.
