RESOLUTION REINSTATING JEFF SESSIONS

AS UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM ALABAMA

Whereas, Jeff Sessions has honorably and ably served the people of the State
of Alabama and the United States of America as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District
of Alabama (1981-1993), Attorney General of Alabama (1995-1997), and United States
Senator (1997-2017); and

Whereas, President Donald J. Trump has publicly expressed reservations and

displeasure about his decision to nominate and appoint Jeff Sessions as Attorney
General for the United States and recently publicly criticized Jeff Sessions performance
as Attorney General for the United States; and

Whereas, on July 19, 2017, the New York Times quoted President Trump as
stating that, Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to
recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked
somebody else; and

Whereas, on July 19, 2017, the New York Times quoted President Trump as
stating that, Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself, which
frankly I think is very unfair to the president. If he would have recused himself before
the job, I would have said, Thanks, Jeff, but Im not going to take you; and

Whereas, on July 24, 2017, President Trump again criticized and expressed
displeasure with Jeff Sessions when President Trump tweeted that Jeff Sessions was
our beleaguered A.G.; and

Whereas, on July 25, 2017, President Trump criticized and expressed

displeasure with Jeff Sessions when President Trump tweeted that Attorney General
Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are &
DNC server) & Intel leakers!; and

Whereas, on July 25, 2017, President Trump criticized and expressed

displeasure with Jeff Sessions when President Trump tweeted that, Ukrainian efforts to
sabotage Trump campaign quietly working to boost Clinton. So where is the
investigation A.G.; and

Whereas, on July 25, 2017, AL.COM reported President Trump criticized and
expressed displeasure with Jeff Sessions when it quoted President Trump as stating,
When they say he [Jeff Sessions] endorsed me, I went to Alabama. I had 40,000
people. He was a senator from Alabama. I won the state by a lot, massive numbers. A
lot of states I won by massive numbers. But he was a senator, he looks at 40,000
people and he probably says, What do I have to lose? And he endorsed me. So its
not like a great loyal thing about the endorsement. But Im very disappointed in Jeff
Sessions.; and

Whereas, the undersigned Republican candidates support resolution of
these differences between President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions
by offering a win-win proposition that empowers President Trump to appoint
another Attorney General for the United States that he is more comfortably with
and appears to desire while simultaneously allowing Attorney General Jeff
Sessions to resume his tenure as United States Senator from the great State of
Alabama; and

Whereas, The restoration of Jeff Sessions to his position as United States

Senator dramatically restores the power and prestige of the State of Alabama in
the United States Senate by placing a person with 20 years of seniority into the
U.S. Senate, thereby dramatically improving the ability of Alabamas junior
senator to acquire important committee assignments and committee
chairmanships otherwise denied the current Senate placeholder, who is last in
Seniority (#100 out of 100 Senators) in the United States Senate; Now Therefore:

Be it resolved that the undersigned agree to the following (subject to the

below terms and conditions):

1. Each of the undersigned hereby agrees to simultaneously withdraw as

candidates for the United States Senate pursuant to the special election ordered
by Governor Kay Ivey: primary election date August 15, 2017, primary run-off
election date September 26, 2017, and general election December 12, 2017.

2. Under Alabama law, the resignation of all primary candidates of a political party
empowers the political party to nominate a person to fill the nomination vacancy
and represent the party in the general election. The undersigned call on the
Alabama Republican Party to offer the nomination to, and if accepted, to
nominate Jeff Sessions to fill the vacancy created by the resignations of the
undersigned, thereby making Jeff Sessions the Republican Party nominee for the
United States Senate in this special election called by Governor Kay Ivey.

3. Incumbent Senator Luther Strange agrees to resign from the United States
Senate at a time and date agreed to with Jeff Sessions, thereby empowering
Governor Kay Ivey to reappoint Jeff Sessions as United States Senator from the
great State of Alabama.

The signatures of the undersigned are binding and of full force and effect
if, and only if the following terms and conditions are met:

1. All Republican Senate candidates sign this Resolution, thereby agreeing to all of
its terms and conditions.

2. Now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions agrees to accept (if offered) Governor Iveys
