1. iPhone User Guide

Straight, concise guide on using the iPhone. All basic needs to get first time users with smart phone
technology are met.

Within the iPhone there are screen buttons and physical buttons. All screen buttons are done on screen.
This is where the concept touch screen comes from. Within the iPhone all functions of the phone can be
accessed through the home screen. The home screen will be a reoccurring topic in this guide.

1.1. Turning iPhone On/Off

1) Turning the phone ON is done by pressing the home button on the center of the screen

2) Turning the phone OFF is done by pressing two buttons. Button on the top-left and HOME button

simultaneously

3) After holding for enough time this screen will come up. Slide it to the right.

1.2. Turn the iPhone ringer up, down, and on

silent
1) To turn ring up look to the left side of the iPhone and press the top for increase and bottom for

decrease

You will then see this on the screen

2) To put the phone on silent move the switch up (to red)

In accordance to the switches placement you will see the image below

Where mute means silent

1.3. Make/answer calls

1) To make a call press the home button indicated on Turning iPhone On/Off section

2) This will take you to the home screen

3) Here you will see applications. These are known as apps. Press the green phone picture on the center
bottom.

4) After pressing you will see this screen, press the numbers need and press

5)To answer calls once a call has been made to you this screen will be made avaliable.

Hold and press the slide bar to the left

6) After sliding the bar you are now connected with your caller and are free to talk to them like a usual
phone.

1.4. Make or answer a text

1) To make a text return to your home screen using the home button

2) At the home screen you will see the message application.

3) After pressing the message application you will be taken to this screen. Press in the required material
phone number and your message you are trying to send to that phone number. After completing the
message and phone press send on the top left corner.

4) When you receive a message this screen will happen. Open the message using the same finger swiping
method as you did when Turning the iPhone off

5) You will be brought to this screen. Press reply on the bottom right. You will then be brought to a screen of
which you have seen before

1.5. Save a phone number as a contact

1) To save a phone number return to the home screen and press the contacts application

2) You will be brought to this screen. Press the + on the top right corner

3)You will be then brought to this screen. Insert required material and press Done on the top right corner

1.6. Using the Calendar Application

1) To use the calendar application return to the home screen and press the calendar application

2) You will be taken to this screen. Press the + on the top right to create a new event.

3) After pressing + you will now see this screen. Insert desired information and press Done

Congratulations you have created your first event. When your event reminder occurs you will be notified with
this pop up.

1.7. Taking a picture

1) To take a picture return to the home and press the camera application

2) You will be brought to this screen. Press the center bottom right screen button to capture your picture.
