Apple – I purchased Apple because whenever news of a new product or service comes out, stock
prices usually go up. Since Apple recently released a new developer program for the iPhone and
the new MacBook Air, stock prices have gone up. Therefore, I’m buying it now on the off chance
that Apple does something else new. Plus, everyone buys iPods and macbooks. I’m going to
keep this stock for a while.

Nike – Nike has been around forever and everyone buys Nike products. Young or old,
professional athletes or retired casual golfers, people will continue to buy Nike. Plus a new Nike
ad campaign came out recently and that will probably be good for business.

Sony – I bought Sony because Sony products have always been good sellers. The PS3, PSP,
and Blue-Ray players have all been selling well as of late. Old Sony products like the PS2 and
PS2 accessories surprisingly are still selling very well.

AAPL: I’m looking forward to an increase in prices for Apple because generally, it has gone up
ever since I’ve been watching it.

BA: I will consider trading this stock for something more commercial. Something that’s more
consumer driven. Being a large company, it would be hard to expect large increases in a stock
price unless the government contracts it to make something.

NKE: I will continue to hold onto Nike. I’m confident that it will increase in price for the entirety of
the project.

AAPL reported its fiscal second quarter numbers beating out Wall Street estimates for the
quarter. Analysts had been expecting the company to report earnings of $1.07 a share, and the
company actually reported earnings of $1.16 for its most recent quarter. Sales came in way
above estimates as well, with a reported $7.51 billion, exceeding the $6.964 billion analysts had
been looking for.

BA reported 1st quarter 2008 earnings of $1.61 per share on 04/23/2008. This beat the $1.36
consensus of the 21 analysts covering the company.

NKE - In the third quarter of fiscal 2008, revenues grew 16% to $4.5 billion, net income grew 32%
to $463.8 million and delivered diluted earnings per share of $0.92, a 35% increase versus the
third quarter of fiscal 2007.

SNE - "posted a surprise quarterly loss on Wednesday after a weak stock market ate into the
value of securities held by its financial arm."

T - On March 26th, 2008 they announced that their next earnings call would be scheduled on
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

“It appears that PC sales held up better than many have feared, and recent tech earnings this
week aren't signaling the end of the run. Data released last night from Gartner and from IDC are
showing similar trends, although the numbers appear slightly different if you go through to the
source documents.
Gartner has reported that the PC market was modestly affected by the U.S. recession, but noted
that there was no fundamental change in market conditions.”
“But the strength of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is continuing to impress on a raw number basis.
Apple is more strong in the U.S. than internationally because of its prices, but its market share for
US shipments for Q1 2008 was 6.6% with some 1.01 million units shipped. That compares to a
5.2% market share and 762,000 units shipped in Q1-2007.”

Apple has gone up $22.47 since I first bought it, and since then, nothing really has happened with
it as far as releasing a new product, but it still continues to go up, peaking at $155.89 over the five
week period. Boeing and Sony have gone down since the first week. Nike and AT&T have gone
up since the first week. Even though I expected all companies to go up, I predicted that Apple
would go up (which it did from $125.52 to $147.99) the most because of the recent releases of
the macbook Air, the new macbook Pro, and the new SDK program for the iPhone (and the
rumors of the pending release of a new iPhone in the next few months). In the class, my
earnings are ranked in the top 5-10.

Apple increases number of carriers overseas which will likely lead to an increase in unit sales.
However, the author theorizes a decrease in iPhone revenue. I disagree because Apple stock
seems to go up regardless of any overseas developments with European carriers and carrier
exclusivity.
