Nozzle orifice: 0.019 - 0.025 "
Nozzle pressure: 250 bar [3625 psi] (minimum)
SURFACE PREPARATION: New steel: Remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with suitable detergent. Remove salts and other
contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning. Abrasive blasting to near white metal Sa 2 (ISO
8501-1:2007) with a surface profile corresponding to Rugotest No. 3, BN10a, Keane-Tator Comparator
3.0 G/S, or ISO Comparator Medium (G).
Maintenance: Remove oil and grease etc. thoroughly with suitable detergent. Remove salts and other
contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning. Other degrees of cleaning including wet methods
like ultra-high-pressure-water-jetting (UHPWJ) and blasting with mixtures of grit and water may be
relevant according to Hempel-specification. Remove water, any residual blasting material and other
debris.
(See separate APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS)
APPLICATION CONDITIONS: Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above: 10C/50F. The
temperature of the paint itself should be above: 20C/68F. Apply only on a dry and clean surface with
a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation.
PRECEDING COAT: None, or as per specification.
SUBSEQUENT COAT: None.
REMARKS:
Weathering/service temperatures: The natural tendency of epoxy coatings to chalk in outdoor exposure and to become more sensitive to
mechanical damage and chemical exposure at elevated temperatures is also reflected in this product.
Induction time: To facilitate proper application properties it is recommended to allow the thoroughly mixed BASE and
CURING AGENT to prereact before application.
Application(s): Do not put tanks into service until the paint system is completely cured.
Holding primer: For service temperature up to 60oC/140oF HEMPADUR 15590 or HEMPADUR 85671
can be used as holding primer.
For service temperature above 60oC/140oF only HEMPADUR 85671 can be used as holding primer.
Maximum recoating interval between HEMPADUR 15590 and HEMPADUR 35900 is 30 days at 20oC/68
o
F.
Maximum recoating interval between HEMPADUR 85671 and HEMPADUR 35900 is 21 days at 20oC/68
o
F.
Film thicknesses/thinning: May be specified in another film thickness than indicated depending on purpose and area of use. This
will alter spreading rate and may influence drying time and overcoating interval. Normal range dry is:
250-500 micron/10-20mils
Overcoating: Overcoating intervals related to later conditions of exposure: If the maximum overcoating interval is
exceeded, roughening of the surface is necessary to ensure intercoat adhesion.
Before overcoating after exposure in contaminated environment, clean the surface thoroughly with high
pressure fresh water hosing and allow drying.
Overcoating note: *Depending on actual local conditions, the long maximum overcoating intervals may vary.
Contact HEMPEL for more information. A completely clean surface is mandatory to ensure intercoat
adhesion, especially at long overcoating intervals. Any dirt, oil, grease, and other foreign matter must
be removed with suitable detergent followed by (high pressure) fresh water cleaning. Salts to be
removed by fresh water hosing.
