JOBS, Steven (1955-2011)

Steven Jobs was an American entrepreneur, businessman,

inventor, and industrial designer. Steve Jobs helped to
make personal computers and computer technology
available to everyone. He was born in Los Altos, California,
on February 24, 1955. He started to think about
technology when he was 10. His parents adopted him
when he was a baby and grew up in California. After high
school, Jobs attended college in Portland, but left after his
first semester to travel in India. When he returned to
California, he learned that his high-school friend Steve
Wozniak made computers as a hobby. He and his friend Wozniak co-founded Apple in 1976. They
sold the first personal computer in 1979 which was a success. They invented the Apple I, II and
the Macintosh.
After Jobs left Apple, he started his own company, NeXT Software. Then, in 1986, he bought
Pixar Animation Studios. In 1995, with the help of Jobs, Pixar produced the first entirely
computer-generated movie Toy Story. It was a big hit, and Pixar went on to produce A Bugs
Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters Inc. (2001), and Finding Nemo (2003). These movies
made a great deal of money.
But, Jobs was asked to return to Apple to help it become a leader in the computer field once
again. In 1998, Apple introduced its iMac and iBook personal computers. Jobs became CEO in the
