Week of

August 21, 2017

Reading: This week we will continue our
unit on Human Rights. What are human
rights? Why do we have them and how are
they protected? This unit is designed to
help students build knowledge about these
questions while simultaneously building their
ability to read challenging text closely. We
will also be reading Wonder by RJ Palacio
which will allow us to learn how to be kind
to one another.
Math: This week in math we will review
math basics as well as begin our first unit on
place value and decimal fractions. Please
encourage your child to persevere when
they come upon a problem that is difficult

Science/Social Studies:
In science, we will start our unit on Mixtures
& Solutions. We will be learning about the
early explorers of America for Social Studies
(Age of Exploration).
