Expression for price:

#1- THATS A BIT STEEP / PRICEY.


Use these phrases to say that something is a little bit expensive.

This is an idiomatic expression that means youre paying too much for something, and its
painful. For example Im paying through the nose to park my car in a private garage in New York
City its $600 a month!
#4 THATS A LITTLE OUTSIDE MY BUDGET. / I CANT AFFORD IT.
Use these phrases to say that you dont have enough money to buy something.
#5 THATS QUITE REASONABLE.
If you describe a price as reasonable, it means that you think its a fair price for what you will
receive.
#6 ITS 20% OFF.
The word off in the context of price means its a discount.
#7 I GOT IT FOR A SONG.
This is an idiomatic expression that means you bought something for a very low price.
#8 ITS DIRT CHEAP.
Use this phrase to say that something is extremely inexpensive. For example, if you can buy lunch
for $1, that is dirt cheap!

Situation 11: your friends want to improve Eng speaking skill: joining an E club, attending an
English class at a center and talking to foreigners in a public places
- English class/ course at center: very effective cuz well-trained teachers but:
+ pay top dollar (2-4 million VND) outside the budget ask parents for help (but next
semester is around the corner parents have to pay tuition fee dont wanna them to worry)
+ wait for the course
- Talking to foreigner in a public places: get chances to listen to native sounds but:
+ some are not willing to talk
+ live in Nam Dinh, not a big city like HN not many native speakers at public areas.
- Joining an E club:
+ people have the same interest and target: practice speaking E extremely native-like
environment.
+ reasonable fee: 100-200k monthly Ss can afford it
* Challenge: Studying in a club will be very crowded: when having determination, size of class is not
a problem, it even a motivation outstanding in the club.
