Executive Board We are inviting your choral group to the San Sebastian College-Recoletos
Manilas HARANA PARA SA BASILICA 2017 an open category
Angelo Chris Luis Dellosa choral competition to be held on October 17, 2017 5pm at SSC-R Manila
President Auditorium.

Jane Merjudio San Sebastian Basilica has been already declared as one of the National
Cultural Treasure here in the Philippines as it is the only All Steel Church
Internal Vice President
in Asia. However, due to its old existency, our beloved Basilica is now
having rust and a tantamous amount is needed to save it. On its 126th year

Anniversary, we, Supreme Student Government of San Sebastian College
External Vice President Recoletos de Manila, together with San Sebastian Basilica Conservation
and Development Foundation, Inc. want to extend some help for our
Richmond Alimarcan beloved Basilica. The proceeds of this event will be given to the restoration
Secretary of the Basilica.

Pammy Dimalanta Interested choirs may fill up the form that is attached. Deadline of
Treasurer submission of requirements will be until September 11-15, 2017. Feel free

REQUIREMENTS:
1. The group must composed of 15-20 persons only.
2. If school based choir:
Each member must have a proof from the school that they are enrolled in the A.Y.2017-2018
- I.D and Study load is required or any ID and proof of recognition from the school
(photocopy)
3. Brief background of the group and their conductor.
4. There shall only be one conductor.
5. High resolution picture (printed and soft copy) of the choir group.
6. The chosen piece should not contain any vulgar words. (subject for disqualification)
7. Five copies of the chosen piece. This must be brought on the day of competition
8. Each group must sell 50 tickets that will be equivalent to the total audience impact which is
10% in the criteria. However, the groups may still request for more tickets once the required
amount of tickets is sold.
A. The tickets will be given first week of September onwards.
B. The group will be given until first week of October (October 2 to 11, 2017) to give the
proceeds of the 50 tickets, if failed to give the proceeds of the tickets on the said date, the group
will have no any added percent to their audience impact in the criteria.
C. The proceeds will go to the restoration of the San Sebastian Basilica.

9. Filled-out application form with registration fee.
10. Submission of requirements will be until September 11-15, 2017
11. The confirmation letter for the competition will be until (August 31, 2017)
12. Ticket Price: Php 100.00

You may send your confirmation letter for the competition through e-mail
(sscr.ssg@yahoo.com) or you may personally submit the letter at Supreme Student Government
Office located at the 2nd floor of St. Monica Building, San Sebastian College Recoletos
Manila.
MECHANICS:
1. Order of performance will be determined by draw lots on the day of the competition. This
procedure will be on a first come first serve basis.
2. The rest of the programme must be performed acapella.
3. Costumes and Props are allowed.
4. Music sheets are not allowed in the competition.
5. There will be only (1) round: This round is composed of 2 songs (OPM/Foreign) and the
contest piece which is the SSC-R Hymn to be given upon registration.
6. There will be 15 minutes allotment for each choir group to spontanousely perform their chosen
song (2) piece and the contest piece. The timer starts when the group started to sing on stage, and
will end to the last person exiting the stage.
7. The Choir who will exceed the allotted time will be penalized.
A. Exceeding 30 seconds or more but less than a minute = 1 point deduction from total
cumulative score.
B. Exceeding 1 minute to 2 minutes = 2 points deduction from total cumulative score.
C. Exceeding 2 minutes or more = 3 points deduction from the total cumulative score
8. The decision of the adjudicators is FINAL.

Any cases of petitions, queries and protests must be brought to the attention of Mr Andrei
Ramos or Mr Angelo Dellosa on the day of the competition. Only cases filed by the official
representative and/or the conductor will be entertained.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

TECHNIQUE (intonation, diction, choral blend and balance) 40%


ARTISTRY and MUSICALITY (interpretation, expression and style) 30%
OVER ALL PERFORMANCE and DEPORTMENT 15%
AUDIENCE IMPACT - 10%
DIFFICULTY OF PIECE 5%

3rd place 10,000php + Trophy and Certificate
