Room 19s Roslyn Investigators Intended Planning focus for Term 3

Week 1 Colour science- skittles in water- what happens to the colours?


Dye and paper- what happens as the paper sucks up the colours and
they meet? (primary colours/secondary colours-intro colour wheel)
(bring in measuring- how much water did the paper soak up?)

Wall display: Look at feelings- synonyms for different feelings


What colours can we associate with these feelings?

Pre-assess:
Look at a range of pictures- how do they make you feel? What colour
matches that feeling talking partners to share how and why you are
feeling that way
Week 2 Students to create a slideshow- each slide a different colour- add the
appropriate feelings (informal assessment- who gets it?)

Recap primary/ secondary- discuss tertiary

Recap hot and cold colours- how do they make you feel? When might
you use these colours? small similar art work to show understanding

Week 3 Look at lines and motions in art- what type of line represents different
emotions-links to music- what types of feelings do feel with different
types of music? (circle art depicting emotions using a combo of colours
and lines)-bring in discussions around fractions- do we always have to
use circles?

Week 4 Art focus- using colours and lines to depict emotions (create a What
am I book using this art)- small groups

Bring in writing by writing what am I clues to different emotions- guess

Week 6 Look at 3D art- how can we make our art 3D- explore different ways to
do this
Begin draft of 3D art
-Self-portrait with thinking cloud- in thinking cloud in 3D objects-
object represents feeling towards it-linking colour (cut object out of
corresponding feeling colour)
-what objects might you use for different feelings? What colours?
-Discuss use of lines etc too that represent feelings- how can we use
this knowledge in our art?
Week 7 Begin final creation of 3D art
Week 8 Continue 3D art
-explanation of why objects chosen etc photo with art and
explanation potentially used for Writing Anthology
Week 9 Web Map of colours and emotions for Learning Journey (End
Assessment)

Maths will continue before and after lunch with Strand integrated throughout Inquiry and
Independent Activities, Strand specifically taught on a Friday
