A12 Police Wearable Reference Kit

Overview
The Ambarella A12 Police Wearable reference kit enables the fast development of a next generation, on-body wearable
camera for police and security markets. The reference kit features the Ambarella A12W35 system-on-a-chip.
Two lens-sensor modules are present on the compact, body-worn design. One camera module is integrated into the
main unit and is capable of Quad HD at 15 fps encoding, with the other connected externally via a one-meter cable and
supporting encode up to 1080p30 resolution.
In addition to a powerful ARM Cortex-A9 processor, the solution offers a rich set of peripherals including two USB
instantiations. One USB 2.0 host is used for connection to the 4G/LTE module with a second USB 2.0 acting as a
device to enable the kit to be identified as a mass storage device when connected to a PC or docking station.
The ultra-low power Ambarella A12 is designed for long operation and transitions from a powered-off state to a fully
functional state, capturing video or still images, in under one second. The A12 has superior low-light performance and
overall image quality. Additionally, the device is capable of encoding and outputting a second 720p30 stream, making it
well suited to streaming applications.
