LABORATORY POLICIES

In order to assure the health and safety of employees, Laboratory Division is committed to
execute a prudent laboratory practice by providing guidance to safe laboratory practice. All
employees must adhere to all applicable law and regulations provided by the Laboratory
Division.

Scope: This policy applies to all individual that use laboratory chemicals on a laboratory scale.
Any laboratory practices acquire a presence of qualified individual on side during any
research or analysis activities in laboratory. This includes direct supervision of new and
inexperienced employees.

Laboratory Division Responbilities:

1. Minimize all chemical exposure and risk by performing risk assessment for hazardous
chemicals and procedure prior to laboratory work.
2. Arrange for proper storage for all hazardous material. All container, cabinets and storage
areas will have proper labeling.
3. Provide a complete and specific standard operation procedure (SOPs) for all equipment
to safely carry out all laboratory activities including emergency procedures, spill response,
waste disposal, equipment failure procedures and the occurrence of a natural disaster.
4. Offer the employees a training about the chemical hazard in the work area and safety
precaution.
5. Provide all related Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect lab workers from
exposure to hazardous chemicals or physical injury while working in the laboratory.
6. Guarantee a complete recordkeeping on any available chemical inside the laboratory that
describe all potential hazards and a safe handling procedures and emergency aid in case
of incident.
7. Set up proper ventilation safety equipment to control a healthier environment for
employees.
8. Assure the employees to receive medical attention and follow up examination whenever
an event as a spill, leak or explosion take place in the work place that prior to hazardous
exposure or when an employee develops sign or symptoms associated with hazardous
chemical.

Employees Responbilities:

1. Do not perform any laboratories activities without a supervision and command of a


qualified personnel.
2. Be familiar with the chemical to be used by studying and understanding the chemical
facts before proceeding to any analysis or research activities to minimize injury and
accident. In case of enquiries, forward them to laboratory division personnel.
3. Wear proper and suitable Personal Protective Equipment provided by the lab while
performing analysis or research.
4. Follow all established safety procedures while handling or disposing any chemical
materials.
5. Report any accidents to laboratory personnel.
6. Sustain a clean laboratory principle by cleaning up all residue or spillage for healthier
surroundings. Make sure that all equipment is clean and returned to its original place.
