3. Question: At which condition the Steam Pipes will come under IBR (Indian Boiler
Regulation)

Answer : 1.When the Steam Pressure is greater than 3.5 Kg/cm2 above the atmospheric
Pressure or
2. Pipes exceeds 254mm in ID and includes in either case any connected fittings of a
steam pipe.

4. Question: How will you do the Pipe Inspection for IBR?

Answer : Pipe Test Certificate should have IBR Form III-B or well known pipe Makers,
Visual Inspection (out side and inside).
Dimension inspection (Length as per Test Certificate or as per PO, Diameter, thickness
Measurement.
Marking Verification as per Test Certificate.

5. Question: What are Forms are required or applicable for IBR Pressure Parts (Plate, Pipe,
Forgings & Fittings, Steam Drum, Water Wall Panel etc..)

Answer :
Form II, Form II-A, Form III, Form IIIA, Form III-B, Form III-C, Form IV A.
Form II-A; Boiler meant for export during various stages of construction so as to comply with the
requirements of any foreign code and may grant a certificate.
Form III-A:Certificates for Steam Pipes,
Form III-B: Certificates for Tubes or Well-known Tube Makers
Form III-C: Certificates for Mounting and Fittings
For Plate Form IVA is applicable. Or well known steel makers
For Steam Drum, Water Wall Panels etc : Form II, Form III, Form IVA is applicable.

6. Question: What are the content of Form II, Form III, Form IVA

Answer :
Form II consist of Manufacturer Name, Working pressure, Design Pressure, Size of the Product,
Marking Details, Stamping details (DCIB -Deputy Chief Inspector of Boiler or CIB Chief Inspector
of Boiler)
Form III Consist of Manufacturer Details, Product information, size etc, having approximately
10 to 12 Page.
Form IV- consist of Mechanical, Chemical Properties of the Raw material used for the Pressure
Vessel for example if is steam drum- Plate & Pipe chemical and mechanical properties which is
given in the test certificate.

7. Question: Have you co-ordinate with Director of Boiler Office or IBR office?
Answer: suppose if it is yes? They may ask about what is the project and other details?

8. Question: What is the maximum working Pressure of which you have worked earlier? (their
expectation is minimum of their project capacity or higher capacity boiler)

9. Question: Can you able to do the inspection behalf of IBR?

Answer: No.

10. Question: Is there any inspection authority is there to do the inspection for behalf of IBR?

Answer : No.

11. Have you done the Inspection at Cethar Vessel ?

Answer: No.
