 Import Party/Item Masters from Excel
Introduction
Recreating masters already available in MS Excel is a time consuming job. With our add-on Import
Party/Item Masters from Excel, users can import Party/Supplier masters as well as Item masters from
Excel to Tally.ERP 9.

Note: The excel has to be in the prescribed format.

Important!
As a best practice it is advisable to take back up of your company
data before installing the Add-on

Setup Guide
1. Activate the Add-on

For Tally.ERP 9 Series A version lower than Release 3.2

Go to Gateway of Tally > F11: Features > Accounting Features
Set Yes to the options Enable Import Party/Item Masters from Excel

For Tally.ERP 9 Series A Release 3.2 and above

Go to Gateway of Tally > F11: Features > Add-on Features
Set Yes to the options Enable Import Party/Item Masters from Excel

2. Add-on details with images.
A sample list of Ledger master in an Excel sheet is as shown below.

Similarly, a sample list of item master in an Excel sheet is as shown below.

From Gate way Of Tally select Import of Data Import Masters from Excel Ledgers from Excel
Capture details as required (sample shown below)

1. Import Source: This module supports Excel 97-2003

2. Drive Info: It will automatically pickup driver info according to source selected
3. Location of File: Mention the location of excel file. Default location name is c:\masters. User can change
the sheet name.
4. File Name: Mention the name of excel file.
5. Table/Sheet Name: Mention the sheet name. By default it takes Ledger Masters for ledgers and Item
Masters for Stock Items. The user can change the name of the sheet as required.

On saving above screen it will prompt you with number of masters available in Excel as shown below

 On pressing Enter, masters will be imported from MS Excel to Tally.

1. If a ledger already exists in Tally, an error message will appear calculator pane. Alternatively, you can
check Tdlfunc.log file in Tally folder for import status masters.
2. Before importing Stock Items, please ensure respective Groups are created.

On completion of the Import process, you can check all the masters as follows.

Go to -> Gateway of Tally -> Display -> List of Accounts

For Ledger Masters Press Ctrl + L

To check Item Master, Press Ctrl + I

Which version/releases of Tally.ERP 9 does the add-on support?

This add-on will work only with Tally.ERP 9 Series A, release 3.0 onwards.
