International

student
workshop
Langsand, Norway

During two weeks in June a group of international students will design and build
4 mobile-shelters at an arctic beach.

Inspired by arctic and nomadic construction methods we invite you to part-

take in a creative discussion about nomadic lifestyles and the potential for
a new compact, sustainable yet simple kind of architecture. What are the
essential ingredients for a modern comfortable living? And how do we relate
to this in a sustainable and practical way?

The structures that are built during the workshop will function as a siida for SALT
an initiative for art, architecture and environment in the Arctic, which opens in
August at Sandhorny outside the City of Bod. SALT Siida takes its name from
the Northern Sami language. Siida means family, home or community.

Food and lavvu accommodation on the beach are provided by the project.
Joar Nango (FFB) and Sami Rintala (RiEg) will lead the workshop.

Please send your free format application (max A4) presenting yourself and your
motivation for participation to the following email by the 24th of May:

helga.marie.nordby@gmail.com

See you on the beach!
