1. LMT Installation and Usage

1.1 LMT Installation

1 Acquire LMT installation package: BLMT_v4.00.101b2 , which contents are illustrated as

follows :

Figure LMT Installation and Usage-1 LMT Package Contents

2 Run jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe in JRE directory and then run LMTSetup.exe.

3 After installation, the starting program named LoadTool can be found in All Programs-> ZTE
GULMT->LoadTools. Creating the desktop shortcut of LoadTool is recommended for operation
convenience purpose.

Figure LMT Installation and Usage-2 Starting Program of LMT

4 If LMT is run for the very first time, Add Version operation should be done beforehand, which
process is shown in figure 1.1-1. Subsequent use of LMT doesnt need the Add Version
operation any more.

Choose or fill in the correct LMT login parameters:

LMT Version: the current version is 4.00.101b2.

Username: root

Password: NULL

Station Name: Station name corresponds to parameter Staion IP,i.e. the debug IP of CC

board, which is equal to192.254.1.16 by default. The mapping relation of station name and
CC board IP can be managed in Station Manage.

Logging In Type:

If real-time operation of the SDR BTS is needed, online configuration should be chosen.
The prerequisite is as follows:

The host of LMT should be connected to Debug Port of SDR BTS.

The IP address of the host should be configured within the same network of SDR BTS.

Otherwise, we choose offline configuration for offline BTS data configuration.

After all the choices, click Run Version to connect to the BTS.

2. LMT Data Configuration

2.1 Offline Configuration Preparation

1 Choose the correct version info of LMT(current version is 4.00.101b2) and offline configuration
in LMT login window, then click Run Version;

Figure LMT Data Configuration-1 Offline Configuration Login

2 Select a template file ,which is of type XML and includes BTS configuration information.

Figure LMT Data Configuration-2 Selection of Template File

4 / 20

[Recommendation]Configuration difference between sites of the same type (BS8800/BS8900)

is minor. Therefore, selection of configuration file, which host BTS has the same BTS type with
the target BTS, is strongly recommended in order that the least change should be made for the
selected configuration file.

Logical Data Configuration and Physical Internal Cabling Principle:

Board slots should strictly correspond to the actual positions, which is shown in figure 2.1-3:

CC: slot 1

FS: slot3

UBPG: slot 5

SA: slot 13

PM: slot 14

CPRI Interface (Optical fiber between BBU and RU modules)Physical Cabling:

Port 0,1,2 of FS board should be connected to the left, middle and right RU modules
respectively.

Mapping between FS port no. and sector no. of LMT configuration is predefined as follows:

Topology parameters: Port 0,1,2 of FS board should be connected to rack 2,3,4;

5 / 20

GSM RU parameters: Rack 2,3,4 should be connected to sector 1,2,3;

Figure LMT Data Configuration-4 Topology Parameters

Figure LMT Data Configuration-5 GSM RU Parameters

Link ID 0 should be selected because physically the first pair of E1 will be connected.

Figure LMT Data Configuration-6 E1 link selection

2.2 Configuration Modification

1 Based on the selected source configuration template, a few modifications are needed in order to
get the configuration data of the target site.

2 Modify Basic Attribute:

Right click subtree NodeB, click config basic attribute.

Figure 2.2-1 Basic Attribute

6 / 20

On the tab Other Parameters, modify SNTP server address to be the OMCB IP address
and modify GSM station no. to be the Site ID, which should be defined ahead of time.

Figure 2.2-2 Modify Basic Attribute

3 Modify PPP parameter:

Double click PPP parameter, then right click the existing record.

Modify Base Station IP to be the planed IP address of the BTS.

Figure 2.2-3 Modify Base Station IP

4 Delete all the existing records of OMCB parameters, SCTP parameters and IP parameters
sequentially.

5 Reconfigure IP parameters:

Double click IP parameters ,then right click the right window of IP parameters.

7 / 20

Select Add, dont change the parameters and then click OK button.

Figure 2.2-4 Delete IP,SCTP,OMCB parameters

Figure 2.2-5 Reconfigure IP parameters

6 Reconfigure SCTP parameters:

Double click SCTP parameters ,then right click the right window of SCTP parameters.

Modify the Remote port ID to be equal to (14592+ModuleNo), in which case module No.
is the host CMP module No. generally ranging from 3 to 8.

Modify the remote IP address to be the RPU IP address.

7 Reconfigure OMCB parameters:

Double click OMCB parameters, then right click the right window of OMCB
parameters.

Modify the RNC Operation and Maintenance IP to be the RPU IP address.

8 Click System->export configuration data, so that the modified configuration data could be
exported and saved locally. Then exit the system.

2.3 Online Import Configuration Data

1 Connect the debug port of CC board to LMT host PC.

2 Choose online login type of LMT, then click Run Version.

3 Click System->Configuration data-> prepare data, and choose the exported configuration
data. After the exportation, the BTS will be restarted automatically.

3.1 Transmission Parameters Configuration

1 SDTB PCM Configuration:

Select the corresponding SDTB board PCM of the SDR BTS.

PCM Type should be Type of EUIP owing to IP Over E1 Principle.

Fame mode should be Multi Frame owing to BTS hardware definition.

Figure 3.1-1 SDTB PCM Configuration for SDR BTS

2 HDLC Configuration:

Select the corresponding EUIP board of a certain SDTB board. Then add the HDLC information
of the SDTB PCM.

HDLC No. designates the mapping relation between EUIP HW resource and DT resource, and the
realated parameters should be defined as follows:

[TATA GSM EXCLUSIVELY]

HDLC No. should be equal to DT PCM No according to plan.

EUIP 2M HW No. should be equal to DT PCM No.

11 / 20

DT Unit No. should be equal to SDTB Unit which the BTS is connected. to.

DT PCM No. should be equal to SDTB PCM No. which the BTS is connected to.

EUIP 2M HW: All the 31 timeslots should be chosen.

DT PCM TS: All the 31 timeslots should be chosen.

Figure 3.1-2 EUIP HDLC Configuration

3 EUIP Interface configuration:

Right click Interface config, create the interface for EUIP board and select the EUIP unit
corresponding to defined SDTB board.

Key parameters of EUIP interface should be defined as follows, in which condition every
EUIP interface corresponds to 1 SDR BTS:

[TATA GSM EXCLUSIVELY]

User Label should be equal to Site ID for convenience.

Port No. should be equal to Site ID for convenience.

IP Address should be filled in according to the planed IP.

Subnet Mask should be filled in according to the planed subnet mask.

MAC address should be filled in according to the planed MAC address.

Normally, as long as the preceding steps are strictly followed, the OMCB connectivity logo
should be connected.
If the OMCB logo is connected, online configuration data uploading is recommended, as is
shown in figure 3.3-3 and figure 3.3-4.
Check the options of Switch to Master and Status Synchronization, as is shown
in figure 3.3-5 and figure 3.3-6.
All Table Synchronization option is not necessary, as is shown in figure 3.3-7. If all
table is synchronized, the BTS will be restarted automatically.
After the uploading, the new master config set will be created.
