The first section of this report describes the top four IT organizations in the world for the
financial year 2009/2010 in terms of market capitalization and the second section
describes the top four organizations in Sri Lanka for the financial year 2008/2009 in terms
of market capitalization, since there were no references available for the year 2009/2010.

Market Capitalization
According to the business world magazine, the top four IT companies in the world, in
terms of market capitalization are,

The telecom industry is one that is undergoing rapid and momentous change globally.
They have fortunately kept pace with this change but intend accelerating this pace in the
ensuing two to three years. The overall direction that they are pursuing is one of moving
from a traditional telecom operator to that of a provider of global IP solutions. Various
parts of this vast organization will have to come together in a new organization structure
to enable this. Whilst continuing to provide the traditional services, they will also be
providing a host of new services including ICT solutions and content. The new services
