7:10-7:15 review of May 2017 minutes

7:15-7:30 Nominations and voting for new positions:


o Huge thanks to Alyson for all her co-secretary work. She has stepped down so
Aideen will be our remaining Secretary and we'll need a Co-Secretary to work with
her, preferably someone who can continue for another year after this.
o Anne Montgomery: introducing as DPAC Rep, also nominated as Member-at-Large
o Andrea Sinclair: nominated as Member-at-Large and presenting proposal of joining
BCCPAC for $75
o Accepting nominations for at least 1 additional Member-at-Large, Co-Chair, Co-
Secretary, and Co-Treasurer

Screenagers

2 PRICING OPTIONS. CHOOSE ONE.


FIRST OPTION: Ticket sales to cover the license fee and raise some money:
All sales above $500 US Dollars are split 50/50 with Screenagers. You don't have to pay
anything upfront.
We set up an online ticket sales site for you and collect the money.
Then, you just send out emails inviting your community.
You pick a ticket price, usually $10, and once you sell 50 tickets that covers the license fee of
$500.(However, you can pick any ticket price that works for your community.)
If you make more than $500 we send you a check.

SECOND OPTION: Offer it free to your community for $650


If you choose to not sell tickets the license fee is $650 US Dollars.
You can get a free RSVP link with this option.
Book 3 or more screenings for $500 USD per screening.
Book 10 or more screenings for $300 USD per screening.

email you a licensing agreement.
Both options include:
3 discussion guides: a Moderators Guide, an Educators Guide and a Parents Guide.
Marketing materials including editable posters, flyers, and postcards to market the event.
If you are a school the licensing fee covers one screening for a parent night and one for the
students. We like these two screenings to happen within a few days of each other.
If you are a school district and want to license the movie for each school, there is a separate
licensing fee for each school. Ask about discounts for multiple screenings in a district.
There is no option to own the DVD, and it is not available on streaming services like Netflix or
Amazon. After your event, you return the DVD to us.
There are subtitled versions in Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, French, and English.

From: Andrea Sinclair, new Member at Large at Tupper, past Chair at Charles Dickens, 2 Vice
President of BCCPAC and a founding member of Parent Advocacy Network (PAN)

BCCPAC has new leadership of which I am a part of, new Executive Director, and renewed and strong
relationships with Min of Education ministers and staff. Parent engagement is at the core of everything.

The purposes of BCCPAC are:

} to promote, support and advance meaningful parent participation throughout the public education
system in order to advocate for the success of all students; and

} through our membership, to promote leadership, communication, cooperation, and representation


in British Columbia at the school, school district and provincial levels.

BCCPAC is the provincial voice of parents in regards to educational issues within the public education
system. Their mission to improve public education for all students by including and supporting parents.
Be part of the collective voice recognized by government and education partners, who involve
BCCPAC as the provincial voice of parents.

In the classroom: Advocacy support and self-advocacy resources for individual parents to promote
collaborative discussions with their school-based team and district staff
At the school: Support for PACs to promote meaningful discussion with school administration, staff and
PAC members

Students

} 564,531 students attend public schools in BC.


} There are 60 school districts in BC.
} 42 DPACs are members (its growing)
} 556 PACs are members (growing too).

} Ministry funding cuts to BCCPAC in 2009 lead to organization restructuring (BCCPACs current
2017 grant from the Ministry of Education ($100,000) is 11.2% of the grant it received in 2007
($892,698).)
