Community Organiser, Full-time


Foundation of International Medical Relief for Children
Job Site: Indang, Cavite (with travel to all 5 municipalities of AMIGA)

The Foundation of International Medical Relief for Children (FIMRC) is a non-government organization
based in Pennsylvania, United States. We are dedicated to improving the health outcomes of medically
underserved families around the world through providing access to medical care and developing health
education materials. In the Philippines, we have partnered with the University of the Philippines Manila
and a Local Government Unit to support their health programming in five municipalities of Cavite. We
are searching for a community organizer who will be an integral part of a small team and assist in
implementing community outreach programs with our partners.

As Community Organizer, you will be work with Rural Health Units, FIMRC and UP staff to maintain,
develop and implement community health programming focussed on non-communicable diseases. You
will also be a crucial point-person for FIMRC international Volunteers and will help guide them through
the community and culture of the Philippines during their time here. You will be passionate and
knowledgeable about community health and community empowerment, and have excellent verbal
communication skills in both English and Tagalog.

Job Description:

Participate in the development and implementation of community health education programs in


partnership with local Rural Health Unit staff and UP.
Maintain partnerships between the local government, barangay counsellors and UP by acting as a
liaison between all parties.
Assist in coordinating Volunteer daily tasks
Accompany and support Volunteers as they observe and carry out activities in the community
Orient volunteers on Filipino culture, language, the healthcare system and needs of our partner
communities.
Translate and interpret from Tagalog to English as necessary
Perform other tasks related as it may arise or deemed necessary

Person Specification:

Extensive, practical knowledge and experience of the Filipino healthcare system (previous work
as a nurse or health practitioner is strongly preferred.)
Passion for community health and community empowerment
Excellent English speaking skills
Excellent Tagalog speaking skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Flexible, independent and confident team-player


Excellent people skills able to relate to and communicate with a variety of people from
different backgrounds, languages and cultures.
Experience creating, organizing and implementing health education programs is highly desirable
