Subject: Physics Class & Sec: 9 C Date: 3-10-16

Lesson Title: Thrust and pressure

Topics to be covered: Thrust and Pressure, Pressure in fluids

Heads Details

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

Desirable learning Understand the concept of thrust and pressure.

outcomes Relate their experience of feeling objects lighter in water than in air
with the phenomenon of buoyancy.

Pedagogy/ Lecture cum discussion method.

Teaching
methodology

Activities/ Tasks / The students attentively listened to the teachers explanation about the
Projects topic, took running notes and solved numerical problems based on thrust and
pressure. They also referred to the power point presentation on the topic.
They took active participation in the learning activity and linked their
understating of the topic by stating some daily life observations.

Conclusion At the end of the lesson the students were able to

Define thrust and pressure with their SI units.

Differentiate between thrust and pressure.
Give the explanation of some everyday observations on the basis of
the pressure.
Define fluids.
Define and explain buoyancy.
Solve problems based on thrust and pressure.

Lesson Title: Thrust and pressure

Topics to be covered: Buoyancy, Why objects sink and float.

Heads Details

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

Desirable learning Learn the fact that water exerts an upward force on objects
outcomes immersed in it which is called Buoyant Force.
Understand the fact that objects with density more than that of
water sink whereas those with less density float when placed on the
surface of water.

Pedagogy/ Lecture cum discussion method.

Teaching
methodology

Activities/ Tasks / The students attentively listened to the teachers explanation about the
Projects topic, took running notes and studied an experiment to understand the
effect of buoyant force on the weight of objects immersed in fluids. They
also referred to the power point presentation on the topic. They took active
participation in the learning activity and linked their understating of the
topic by stating some daily life observations.

At the end of the lesson the students were able to

Understand and define buoyant force.

Describe the causes of buoyant force.
