Dear Head of Careers,

National Pathology Week - Careers Fair at Bedford Hospital for Year 11 and
12 Students interested in a career in Pathology on Tuesday 7th and
Wednesday 8th November 2017, 11.00am to 15.00pm
We would like to invite students from your school who are interested in finding out about an exciting
career in Pathology to attend an open day in Pathology at Bedford Hospital on 7th and 8th November
2017. The event will run from 11.00am to 15.00pm and will include lunch (please arrive by 10.30am).

This meeting is being supported by the Royal College of Pathologists and the IBMS. The event will
have stands from the various Departments in Pathology: Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and
Blood Transfusion, Cellular Pathology and Microbiology. There will also be an opportunity to talk to
our staff during a laboratory tour and discuss the various pathways towards a career in Pathology.

Please complete and return the attached reply slip with details of a maximum of 6 students who are
considering a career in Pathology. Due to health & safety requirements and fire regulations, only 42
students will be admitted on each day. We may be able to hold a reserve list dependant on take up.
If you have more than 6 interested students, please let me know.

We also ask that a responsible school staff member accompanies the group for support. Please can
you return this form to me by 13th October 2017 to enable the sessions to be planned.
