1) A Manager should produce outputs appropriate to his or her position. Please critically
comment on this statement.
- There should be a logical flow to what is written with an introduction & Conclusion.

Answer:

The Success of an enterprise depends much more on administrative ability of its leader than
technical ability. There are 5 basic managerial functions which a manager needs to perform to
be successful. Any manager should follow planning, organizing, leading & controlling functions
to successful produce output.

We can categorise managers based on their jobs and responsibilities they hold in an
organisation and they are responsible to produce outputs appropriate to their managerial
position and the same is described below:

i) Top Managers: Positions like CEO, CFO, COO, and CIO are responsible for overall
direction of the organisation and they have to move fast enough to bring significant
changes by forming long term visions and missions. Next responsibility is to make
their employees committed to the work and to the organisation. They should also
create positive organizational culture by imparting values, strategies and action both
inside and outside the company. Finally the management should monitor the
complete business environment.
ii) Middle Management: Plant managers, regional managers or divisional managers
are considered for middle Management. They are responsible setting objectives in
line with top managements goal and for planning, implementing and subunit
strategies and allocating resource to for achieving the objectives. They should also
monitor and manage the performance for these subunits along with individual
manager who report to them, hence by this, managers can constantly give better
output for the firm.
iii) First line managers: Office managers, shift supervisor or department manager are
responsible for the performance of entry level employees, which is very important
as these employees are directly responsible for producing companys Goods &
services. Monitoring, teaching, short term planning along with Encouraging and
rewarding the performance of their workers is the highlighted responsibility which
will directly influence the organisation, hence delivering the proper output from
these managers will help the organisation for achieving the objectives constantly.
iv) Team leaders: Team leaders in modern world have very different set of
responsibility when compared to traditional 1st line managers. They facilitate team
activities towards accomplishing a goal.

They are responsible for primary actives in an organisation such as to help the team
members to plan and schedule work, to teach them how to solve the problems by
themselves and work effectively as a team.

The managers fulfil three major roles while performing their jobs:

a) Interpersonal roles
b) Informational roles
c) Decisional roles

Which means managers talk to people, gathering the every possible information and make
decision based on them.

Conclusion: As the roles and responsibilities for each level of managers are clearly
distinguished and classified, these managers have to understand the responsibility and act
efficiently and effectively to achieve their goals, to produce outputs appropriate the position,
to make an organisation successful for lifetime.
