Voice Interface Units
The Voice Interface Units are controlled via the Network Element (eg. DB4) that they are
associated with.
They occupy the slots in the subracks associated with the NE and the jumper settings on
the backplane.
The Interface units are installed using CLI commands or via the MSTE.
They can be installed all together using a single command as install all or they can be
installed individually knowing the slot number the interface unit occupies.
Once a unit is installed it cannot be exchanged without being uninstalled first.
VIU or VFU refers to Voice Interface Unit or Voice Frequency Unit respectively and these
may be shortened to VF units.
