INTRODUCTION
Choppers are basic devices used for dc to dc
conversion taking chopper as reference many
fundamental devices were invented
First generation converter:
Fundamental converters
Transformer type converters
Second generation converters:
Multiple quadrant operating converter i.e. used
for low out put power range
Third generation converters:
These converters are called switched converters .

Fourth generation converters:

Resonant converters with zvs ,zcs reduces
switching stress hence power transfer occur with
less losses .
Professor ferd lee is the pioneer of soft
switching technique
In 1984 he published first paper on ZVS,ZCS
has three stages
1. Over resonance(complete resonance)
2. Optimum resonance(critical resonance)
3. Quasi resonance(sub resonance)

Only quasi resonance has to clear cross zero

points in a repeating period
Advantages :
QSC uses gallium nitride (GaN) switching devices
which is having wide band gap ,reduction of physical
size.
Turn ON and OFF at ZVS
Reduce EMI.
Bidirectional power flow is possible

Disadvantages:
No.of switches increases
No.of capaciors increases
A Wide Bandgap Device-Based Isolated Quasi-Switched-
Capacitor DC/DC Converter:
1. QSC is used to reduced voltage stress on switches
2. Bidirectional power flow, and better efficiency
3. Transformer turns ratio is reduced and also the stress on
transformer is reduced
4. Its circuit is similar to traditional voltage tripler where diodes are
replaced by switches
Voltage multiplier:
1. This are based of principle of charging and discharging of
capacitor with the help of steering diodes

Conclusion:

In this paper, Analysis and modes of operation of IBSPFC has been presented. The
IBSPFC has an appreciable efficiency, which is obtained when operated in continuous
conduction mode. By using series and parallel connection low switch current stress,
tight output voltage regulation is obtained and efficiency is improved. The prototype has
been simulated with input voltage of 75V, 100V output voltage, 100W output power and
100 kHz frequency. The high output voltage and low output current will be very useful
for Battery charging applications and series connected LED drivers etc. As a future
work this new structure can also be extended for power factor correction by using
current mode control techniques, soft switching techniques and intelligent control
techniques. With the combination of IBSPFC with QSC the efficiency of the converter
increases i.e.88% and because of soft switching used in QSC helps to increase overall
converter efficiency
