1.0 Chairpersons Address

1.1 The Chairperson welcomed the Senior Assistant 1, Pn. Zainipah and all the
members of English Panel 2017 for attending the meeting.
1.2 The Chairperson also welcomed Cherrish to the English Panel.
1.3 The Chairperson thanked the teachers for all the effort done in 2016.
1.4 The Chairperson also hoped that all English teachers would cooperate in
implementing the programmes planned for the year 2017 to achieve the target
of MBMMBI.

2.0 Pn. Zainipahs Speech

2.1 Pn. Zainipah thanked all the English teachers for coming to the meeting. She
hoped that 2017 will be a better year for the English Panel.
2.2 She reminded the teachers to be aware of the students performance.
2.3. She hoped that the teachers will use the instructional language in class and to
pin it in the class.
2.4 She thanked all the teachers for teaching the Year 6 pupils in small groups
during the extra class in 2016.
2.5 She wished Good Luck for 2017 and hopefully SK Temiang can achieve good
result.
2.6 She reminded all the teachers to get all the exercise books from the pupils in
the beginning itself.
2.6 She encouraged all the teachers to use the science size book for writing.
2.7 She advised the teachers to simplify the lessons for Marikh classes.

3.0 Strategic Planning

3.1 The Chairperson urged all the teachers to be aware of the Strategic Planning
especially the issues, the tactical and the operational plans.

4.1 Teachers must follow the format of the latest Daily Lesson Plan which is as

5.0 Observation

5.1 Observation will be done by the administrators starting from February. The
teachers were urged to be prepared all the time.

6.0 Exercise Books

6.1 All members had agreed that the number of exercise books is as follow :
(a) Level 1 3 blue and red line books
(b) Level 2 2 single line
1 big book (for writing)
1 workbook

7.0 Activities for the Year 2017
7.1 The Chairperson notified the teachers that the activities planned for 2017 are as
follow:
7.1.1 English Week 3rd until 7th of April 2017
7.1.2 English Day - every Wednesday (including Preschool).
- incorporate action song, reading activities, spelling Bee,
quiz etc.
7.1.3 English Corner in each class and English Panatia Notice Board
7.2 Pn. Zainipah volunteered herself to take-charge of presentation at the school
hall every Wednesday.
7.3 All the members have agreed that the same teacher will be in charge of the
English Corner and Vocabulary Corner for each same month. The schedule will be
prepared by Pn. Kalavathi.
7.4 The Chairperson hoped that every English teacher will organise 2 activities in
each class they are teaching for the English Week Programme.
7.5 The Chairperson urged the teachers to strictly follow the schedule planned by
the Panitia especially for the English Day activity. Teachers will be notified further
about the schedule.
7.6 Teachers were urged to make sure that all the pupils take part in English Day
activity.

9.0 Analysis of Semester 2 Examination for 2016 and Post-Mortem

9.1 The analysis of the Semester 2 Examination for 2016 is as follow:

9.21 Problems faced (Level 1)

a) Mixed ability group it is difficult for the teachers to do whole class

teaching. So, the teachers do not have enough time to focus on the
weak pupils.
b) Hyperactive pupilsthere are some pupils who are very hyperactive
and have less attention span in the class.
c) Slow-learners the pupils are unable to finish the work fast.

9.22 Problems faced (Level 2)

a) Discipline and attitude problems

- pupils do not pay attention in class
- some of the pupils enter the class late
- some of the pupils always lose their book

9.3 Suggestions to overcome the problems

a) Read-aloud activity for Level 1 pupils and for Marikh
Classes (Level 2).
b) Spelling compulsory once a week for Level 1
c) Dictation compulsory once a week for Level 2
d) Remedial work teachers should simplify exercises for
the weak pupils.
However, it is up to the teachers discretion to motivate the pupils.

10. Co-Academic Activities
10.1 The teachers in-charge of the Co-Academic activities are as follow:

Scrabble (2 pupils) Pn. Au, Pn. Zainipah

Spelling (1 pupil) - Pn. Kalavathi
Story Telling (1 pupil) - Pn Azlina/ Pn. Nurul Aini
10.2 The teachers were requested to select the students and prepare the students earlier for
Co Academic activities.

11. PLC
11.1 Teachers can discuss any problem regarding Teaching and Learning during the PLC.
11.2 The report must be sent to PPD.
11.3 The Committee Members have agreed that Pn. Norzilawati will be the teacher in-
charge for PLC based on the drawlocks done during the meeting.
11.4 Teachers have to include the 21st Century Teaching and Learning method during the
PLC.

12. LINUS

12.1 Pn. Zainipah reminded the teachers that there will be an extra class for LINUS.
12.2 She will try to get a television and DVD for SALC room.
12.3 She hoped that the teachers could use the television and DVD during the LINUS extra
classes.

13. Other matters

13.1 The Chairperson informed the teachers that there will be a programme like Mentor-
Mentee for the HIP Programme.
13.2 The Chairperson hoped that LINUS teachers will carry out the LINUS screening
efficiently.
13.3 Pn. Au reminded the preschool teachers to introduce phonics to their pupils.
13.4 Pn. Zainipah informed that she will try to order the Snake and Ladder banner. The
banner will be put in the SALC room.
13.5 The Chairperson stressed that all the teachers who attended any courses to hold in-
house training and hand in a copy of the letter to the Head of Panitia.

14.0 Closing Speech

14.1 The chairperson thanked all the members for their attention and hoped everyone
would cooperate and work together to promote English Language in the school.
14.2 The meeting was adjourned at 3.30 p.m
