TITLE :

Parametric study on importance factor K4 of wind

code on tall buildings
OBJECTIVE

Effect of wind is very predominant on tall structures depending upon

the location and height of the structure. For any structure which is
above 10m the wind analysis is to be done. This paper deals with the
using of importance factor K4 in the industrial and cyclonic regions. In
this paper we are evaluating the gust load from the old code IS 875-
1987 (Part 3) and the new code IS 875-2015( Part 3).Since in new
code a new factor i.e importance factor is introduced for the cyclonic
areas. A truss is being modelled and on the truss analysis on cladding
and non cladding buildings is to be done. Using the above codes used
the comparision is being done and the subsequent results are to be
obtained.

LITERATURE REVIEW

A study on importance factor k4 for cyclonic regions by B.

Shantosh Kumar

In this paper the he has taken Post hurricane investigations have

repeatedly reported that wind and wind driven rain have been
the cause of extensive damage to building components and their
premises. This study attempts to explore the impact of the k4 factor
on A-type steel angular trusses for 12 and 24 meter span with roof
slopes 1 in 3 and 5 for various degrees of building permeability
conditions. The general loading on these trusses have been adopted
from IS 800-2007 Code Provisions. The results were generated for
both industrial and Post cyclone importance structures.
Comparisons were presented with the existing code for wind load.

Analysis of High rise building for wind loads

In this paper the wind load analysis is done by using the new code
and old code by using the Gust factor method. This paper is about
the calculation of the wind load using gust factor method by the
present IS code [IS: 875 (Part 3) 1987] and as per the new code
[IS: 875 (Part 3) 2015) for zone 3 with terrain category 3 using
STAAD PRO Software. The comparisions on both the codes is done
for the wind load analysis.

A review on dynamic wind analysis of tall building as per

proposed draft for indian wind code

Effect of Wind on Tall Building Frames

The paper is about the wind effects on tall buildings, he has taken a
multistored building in this study. The condition requirement in this
study are of basic wind speed 50 m/s.The terrain category has been
taken as 2 with well scattered obstructions with height 1.5m to 10m.
The topography of the study is flat. The basic wind speed is
calculated by equivalent static method and by using the STAADPRO
software the model is generated.

Study on wind loads and responses on tall buildings and

structures

The paper is about the wind effect on the tall buildings and there
responses on the various shape of the buildings. The building models
for the test had different cross-section shapes, including square,
rectangular, triangle, Y-type, polygon, L-type, ladder shape, corner-
modified square crosssection shape and double-tower. The heights
of all the models were 60 cm, representing 300m high prototype
buildings in terms of the scale ratio of 1/500. All of the models were
tested by using pressure scanning technique and some were further
tested by using HFFB technique.
