Sharing is caring and on the internet that means links or hyperlinks. A good netizen always shares with others what they like
and their links enhance navigation for users and search engines. Links are also like a vote of confidence for the content being
linked toolike a referral.
SCN encourages it's users to create legitimate links when creating content:
Link to other SCN content such as people, blog posts, discussions and documents
Link to other SAP sites, such as help.sap.com
to other websites
To help you get started, here are some tips and best practices for adding links.

Troubleshooting: Display a URL Without it Becoming a Link
Another good reason to link it to give a shout out when you refer to someone instead of just writing their name. The people you're
linking too will see the link and feel more appreciated.

I go into more detail about this in blog post Click Here.
2. Insert the table of contents by clicking Insert (double blue chevrons) and then selecting Table of Contents
@Mention
In a hurry? From anywhere in the text area, just type @ to mention people, content and places your talking about.
1. Type @
2. Choose from the results or continue typing to search for people, content and places
User underscore (_) instead of a space between search terms, e.g. "jason_lax"
3. Click A
4. Click T to convert the URL to the title of the content
(Click image to see animated demo)
The same pop-up menu can be used to unlink the text or change the linked text to the bare URL
Browse History
Select a link from the last 5 content items, spaces or people profiles visited. With this method you can either assign a link to
selected text or insert hyperlinked text automatically based on the title of the link target.
1. In the text area, either select the text to be linked or the position where to insert the link
2. Click insert link icon on toolbar
1. Paste the link as text only without the http:// at the beginning
Results are per above, to the sample URL. You can check the HTML of this page for confirmation.
If things get complicated, you can share a screenshot of the URL (like I did above) or user a ling shortening service such as
bit.ly to share it.
In this example, the anchor is named "bottom" and the first line linked to where the second appears in the document:
<a href="#download">Go to bottom</a>
<a name="bottom">Bottom of Page</a>
Example:
1. username:password@www.mysite.com:1234?repo=abc

I would rather like to supress auto link of an URL and only want to show it as text, because it contains some varying
parts like http://myuser@exampleserver.com...SCN makes an URL out of this whioch is nonesense.

I really like to see this URL and it might be hard to shared online until we figure out how to do it. Can you
eMail it to me? (I'm in the company's address book.)
Meanwhile, on the text editor you can insert HTML and Quotes: just click the double chevrons on the lower
right of the text editor's toolbar to select on of the options.

SCN Moderators and Space Editors
Editors should use this as much as possible. Keep in mind that the link text can still be edited after auto-titling.

I don't quite follow you question so perhaps you can elaborate in a new discussion inSCN Support?

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the response. I will ask this in support as suggested but the question was related to the
empty bullet point in your table of content (top of page)

Wow: something wrong with the nesting! What browser are you using because it's fine
in Chrome.

I see what you see with IE. This must be the result of the recent upgrade
whereas if there is no header one, it artificially adds one. This means you
must start with header 1

Hi Jason,
You are right, it is a browser issue (that will teach me to use IE).
Thank you for the tip

I am not trying to include table of contents on the communication stream but in a new blog. I want
to get this (this is what table of contents means right),
Jrgen L Dec 20, 2013 5:16 PM (in response to Midhun VP)
you are almost there.
you have to Format your headers with header styles 2-6 prior to this command
This makes mainly sense in documents and blogs where you have headlines above
certain sections
Once you added this table of content you only need to save (or publish) and you get the
headlines listed at that place where you inserted this table of content
