Mechatronics (skill 04)

Since 1990, the Modular Pro-
duction System (MPS) has been
the main platform for the
mechatronics competition.
A new generation of stations
and modules was recently
released with several improve-
ments, such as: mobile carriage
with ergonomic height adjust-
ment, direct mounting of A4
systems in a mounting frame,
practical drawer systems, and
an authentic mounting board
for industrial wiring.
Training for Industry 4.0
Industry 4.0 will be at the heart
of the Festo Didactic booth.

Refrigeration and air condi-
tioning (skill 38) Lead sponsor
For this newly sponsored skill
for the Abu Dhabi competition,
a new training system was
developed, which includes a
mobile bench and many electri-
cal, mechanical and control
devices commonly used in the
refrigeration and air condition-
ing industry.
The bench was designed to be
ergonomic, visually attractive,
and most importantly, reusable,
and will soon be integrated into
the HVAC-R product line.
Learning from nature
The principles of nature provide
the Bionic Learning Network
with new insights for technol-
ogy and industrial applications.

Water technician (demonstra-
tion skill) Lead sponsor
Clean water is a major chal-
lenge all over the world, and
water technology has been a
demonstration skills competi-
tion since 2013.
Competitors will solve prob-
lems using the EDS Water
Management modular learning
system, which simulates the
core processes of water and
waste water plants. The Virtual
Reality (VR) Wastewater Treat-
ment Plant will also be dis-
played.
Think tank for the youth
The first International TVET
Youth Forum will be held during
the competition and is a unique
opportunity for young profes-
sionals to shape the future of
skills. Festo will actively take
part as a mentor in the discus-
sions related to Industry 4.0.
