Diversity Benchmarker System Overview
1 Introduction
The following sections describe how to install and to configure SwissQual Diversity
software.
For a description on to install this software from a SwissQual factory image, see the
Manual - Backup and Restore.pdf document.
1.1 Diversity Benchmarker System Overview

Diversity Benchmarker II consists of a Computer Module Rack (CMR) that has 8 slots
for Computer SlideIn Modules (CSM) and a Device Module Rack (DMR) that has up to
8 slots for AudioDevice SlideIn Modules (ASM) and DataDevice SlideIn Modules (DSM
and DSM2).

1.2 Diversity Software Overview

The Diversity software suite contains programs to create, to control, and to perform
network measurements.

1.2.1 Diversity Setup Application
The Diversity setup program installs the following software to control and to operate
Diversity PCMs and measurement devices:
Controlling PC (PC, Laptop, or Tablet PC): Configures, controls, and monitors a
SwissQual Diversity or QualiPoc measurement system.
Diversity Optimizer (PC, Laptop, or Tablet PC): Configures, controls, monitors,
and operates a Diversity Optimizer system.
This package contains QuickTime, RealPlayer, the reference file samples for mea-
surement tests, and Diversity Supervisor, which you can use to access Measure-
ment Control, Measurement Engine, and Device Manager.
NQView Replay (PC, Laptop, or Tablet PC): Standalone player that you can use
to monitor the playback of SwissQual measurement files.
You cannot configure measurement tasks or monitor measurements in real time
with this version of NQView.
Diversity Core Software: Operating software for the following Diversity measure-
ment systems:
Diversity Benchmarker (CSM and PCM): Operating software for a Computer
SlideIn Module (CSM) or a PC Module (PCM).
This package also contains the reference file samples for measurement tests
and Diversity Supervisor, which you can use to access Measurement Control,
Measurement Engine, and Device Manager.

Third Party Software
Diversity Remote Controlled (CSM and PCM): Operating software for a CSM
or a PCM in a Diversity system that uses an RLM module to provide a wireless
connection to the controlling PC.
Diversity Ranger (MPM): Operating software for a Diversity Ranger Measure-
ment Processing Module (MPM).
Diversity Core also contains the ViCom driver for Rohde&Schwarz scanners.
1.3 Third Party Software

When required, the Diversity setup program also installs the following third party soft-
ware to test audio and video streaming:
QuickTime
RealPlayer
1.4 System Requirements
1.4.1 Diversity Core System Requirements
Apart from Windows 7 professional (64-bit), Diversity Core has the same system
requirements as NQView.
To use an optional PSTN or ISDN interface board in your system, you need to install
the appropriate Windows driver as well. For a description of the boards that Diversity
supports, see the Installation - PCI Telephony Boards.pdf document.

1.4.2 NQView System Requirements
Microsoft Windows:

System Requirements
NQView: Windows 8 Professional (64-bit), Windows 7 Professional (32-bit and

64-bit), Windows 2008 Server (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows 2012
You can run NQView with our without Windows Administrator rights.
NQView Replay and Data Exporter: Windows 8 Professional (64-bit), Win-
dows 7 Professional (32-bit and 64-bit) - Windows 2008 Server (32-bit and 64-
bit) - Windows 8 professional (32-bit and 64-bit), and Windows Server 2012
You can run NQView Replay and Data Exporter with or without Windows
Administrator rights.
NQView Optimizer: Windows 8 Professional (64-bit), Windows 7 Professional
(32-bit and 64-bit) with Windows Administrator rights
Computer with CoreDuo or faster processor
Minimum of 2 GB of RAM
If you want to run NetQual NQView, you need 1 GB of RAM for best results.
Supported hard disk format: NTFS
In Windows and you need to set the locale to English, that is, open the "Regional and
Language Options" in the "Control Panel", click the "Regional Options" tab, and select
an English location in the list.
If you intend to use a software firewall with Windows, you need to open up the ports for
the Diversity software components.
The text size on your screen must be set to Smaller - 100% (default) on the Display
Control Panel.
Microsoft SQL Server:

You can install SQL server on the controlling PC or an external PC. You must
install the English language version of the software. For a description on how to
install SQL server, see the corresponding installation manual, for example,
Installation - MS SQL Server 2014.pdf document.
You do not need to preinstall SQL server for Diversity Optimizer as the installation
package includes SQL Server 2012 Express.
SQL Server 2008 SP3, R2 SPI (32-bit and 64-bit)
SQL Server 2012 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit)
SQL Server 2014 (64-bit): Do not enable the compression option when you cre-
ate a new database.
Windows Drivers: You need to install the relevant driver for your measurement
device on the PC that the device is connected to, for example, a CSM.
MapInfo MapX: Only required if you want to use the Map monitor in NQView.
You do not need to install additional software if you want to use Open Street Map
instead of MapX.

Using SwissQual Factory Images
2 Installing Diversity
The following sections describe how to install Diversity software with the Diversity
setup application.
2.1 Using SwissQual Factory Images

The recommended Diversity installation method is to use SwissQual factory reference
images and the Clonezilla-based Backup and Restore application. SwissQual produ-
ces up-to-date factory images for each Windows operated hardware device, for exam-
ple, a Benchmarker PCM. Each image includes the Windows operating system and a
working installation of the relevant Diversity software.

2.2 Installing Diversity

The following sections describe how to install the Controlling PC, Diversity Optimizer
Pro, NQView Replay, and Data Exporter Diversity software on a PC, Laptop, or Tablet
PC.
2.2.1 Installing NQView
The controlling PC software package that contains NQView is for the computer that
you want to use to control, to configure, and to monitor your Diversity and QualiPoc
measurement systems.
To install the Controlling PC software

1. Login with administrator rights, exit all applications, and then double-click the
Diversity Setup.exe file.
2. On the "Setup Type" page, click "Controlling PC" in the list, and then click "Next".

Note:
If your computer does not have an SQL Server installation, select "Install new
named instance of SQL Server 2012 Express", and then type a name and pass-
word for the server.
3. On the "Select Packages" page, select "Copy documentation files" if you want to
install the documentation locally, and then click"Next".

4. On the "Select Destination Folder" page click "Next", click "Finish", and then restart
the computer.
Do not change the default Installation location.
5. Install the SwissQual software license according to the instructions in chapter 2.3,
"Installing the Software License Key", on page 20.

2.2.2 Diversity Optimizer
This package installs the software that you need to run a standalone version of Diver-
sity Optimizer Pro on your PC, including SQL Server Express.
To install Diversity Optimizer

2. On the "Setup Type" page, click "Diversity Optimizer (Complete installation)" in the
list, and then click "Next".

Note:
If your computer does not have an SQL Server installation, select "Install new
named instance of SQL Server 2012 Express", and then type a name and pass-
word for the server.

2.2.3 Installing NQView Replay
You do not need adminstration rights to install NQView Replay.
To install NQView Replay

1. Close all applications on the PC and double-click the Diversity Setup.exe file.
2. On the "Setup Type" page, click "NQView Replay" in the list, and then click "Next".

5. Back up the installation according to the instructions in the

Manual - Backup and Restore.pdf document, and, if present in the installa-
tion package, install the software patches.
2.2.4 Data Exporter
The Data Exporter allows you to open and export the contents of measurement files to
CSV format. This limited version of NQView does not require an SQL Server installa-
tion.
To install Data Exporter

2. On the "Setup Type" page, click "Data Exporter" in the list, and then click "Next".

2.2.5 Diversity Measurement Units
The following sections describe how to install the Diversity operating software, that is,
Diversity Core, on a Benchmarker CSM or PCM, and a Ranger MPM.
The core software includes the FileZilla FTP server, which uses port 990 to listen for
implicit SSL/TLS connections. Although you can change this port in the "FileZilla
Server Interface" settings, the next Diversity update will overwrite the settings. You can
open the "FileZilla Server Interface" in the following location:
C:\Program Files\SwissQual\Diversity\FileZilla Server\.
Before you begin, you need to copy the Diversity installation folder to the hard drive of
the Diversity measurement unit, for example, a CSM. One method to copy the folder is
to use TightVNC, Windows Remote Desktop, TeamViewer, or LogMeIn; otherwise you
can use a USB stick to transfer the folder to the PCM. For the latter operation you also
need a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse.
2.2.5.1 Diversity Benchmarker
The Benchmarker package installs the Diversity core software to operate a Diversity
CSM, PCM, or Land Unit.
To install Diversity Benchmarker

1. For a Land Unit, copy the Diversity installation folder to the PC.
For a CSM or PCM, complete the following steps:
Copy the Diversity installation folder to a USB hard drive.
Connect the hard drive to a USB port on the CSM or PCM.
Attach a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the CSM or PCM.
If you need to use a USB hub, do not connect the external hard drive to the
hub.
3. On the "Setup Type" page, click "Diversity Benchmarker", and then click "Next"

2.2.5.2 Diversity Remote Controlled
The Remote Controlled package installs the software to operate a Diversity CSM or
PCM as well as the software to enable remote access to the CSM or PCM.
To install Diversity Remote Controlled on a CSM or PCM

3. On the "Setup Type" page, click "Diversity Remote Controlled", and then click
"Next".

2.2.5.3 Diversity Ranger
The Diversity Ranger package installs the Diversity software to operate a Ranger
MPM.
To install the controlling PC package on the Tablet PC for Ranger, see chapter 2.2.1,
"Installing NQView", on page 11.
To install Diversity on Ranger MPM

2.3 Installing the Software License Key

If your software came with a hardware dongle, you can install the license key on more
than one computer. Otherwise you need to obtain a standalone license key from our
support center.
To install the license

1. Copy the license key to the computer.
For a standalone installation, copy the license key that you obtained from our
support center to the computer.
If your installation came with a dongle, connect the dongle to a USB port on the
computer, and then copy the license key from the dongle to the computer.
Note: The hardware dongle requires the Windows driver from the
USB Dongle Driver folder on the installation CD. The dongle license key can be
used on any computer so long as the dongle is connected to the computer.
If you need a standalone license key, see chapter 2.3.1, "Obtaining a Standalone
License Key", on page 21.
2. In the C:\Program Files\SwissQual\Diversity\Tools folder, double-click
the SQLicense2008Loader.exe file.

3. Click "Browse for SQLicense.xml", locate the license key, and then click "Open".

4. Click "OK" and then click "Exit".

The tool automatically copies the license key to the following path:
C:\ProgramData\SwissQual\Diversity\License.
5. If your installation requires a dongle, connect the hardware dongle to a USB port
on the PC.
6. Restart the program.
2.3.1 Obtaining a Standalone License Key
For a standalone license key you need to provide our support center with the following
information:
User name and contact information, that is, name, address, Email, and telephone
number
Computer name and serial number of hard drive
To obtain the computer name and serial number of the hard drive
1. In the C:\Program Files\SwissQual\Diversity\Tools folder, double-click
the InfoReader.exe file.

2. Click the browse button (), navigate to where you want to save the file, for exam-
ple, the "Desktop", and then click "Save information to file".

3. Send the NetQual_Computer_Name.ifo file to our support center along with the
following information:
Contact information, that is, name, address, Email, and telephone number
SwissQual software options that you want to install

3 Connecting NQView to an SQL Database

The following sections describe how to configure NQView to connect to a SQL Server
and to create a new SQL database. This database stores information about SwissQual
test units, access points, campaigns, tests, and test results.
NQView is part of the Controlling PC and Diversity Optimizer packages. NQView
Replay does not require the SQL Server. You do not need to configure the SQL data-
base connection for Diversity Optimizer.
3.1 Connecting NQView to an SQL Database

You need to install a valid Diversity software key before you can connect NQView to an
SQL database.
For information on how to use NQView, see the
Manual - NetQual - NQView.pdf document.
To connect NQView to an SQL database

1. Start NQView.
2. In the "Database connection" dialog box, type the login information for the SQL
server, and then click "Connect".

Note: If you selected to install an instance of SQL Server 2012 express, type local-
host\ followed by the SQL Instance Name in the "Server" name box.
3. In the "Database name" box type a name for the database and click "Create data-
base".

4. In the confirmation dialog box click "OK".

5. In the "Database connection" dialog, click the new database in the Database name
list, click "Login to database" and at the end of the login process, click "Close".
6. In the "Welcome" dialog box, click the console that you want to use, for example,
the "Control console".
