Founder: Robert Leroy Ripley

Location: Ontario Canada

Year of Development: 2003
Distinct Feature: Cracks on the building
This is an unusual building which is a head office of
a famous television program Ripleys believe it or
not. It is full of all odd and mind-boggling
artefacts from all over the world. The uniqueness
of the building is that it looks like a building which
is cracked by a hurricane. It is located in Ontario,
Canada. The building design was actually created to
reflect the odd earthquake of 1812 that measured
8.0 on Richter scale. It is one of the most
photographed buildings and hence it is on the third
position of the list for its matchlessness.
Project Name: The Basket Building
Construction year: 1997
Architect(s): NBBJ
Address: NEWARK-OHIO, United States
What started out as a dream by Dave Longaberger,
has been built into a giant basket to house the
entire corporate offices of the company. Daves
dream was achieved on December 17, 1997 when the
Home Office that is designed to resemble a basket
finally opened for business. The building is made of
stucco over a steel structure, which helps create
the look of an actual Longaberger Basket. The
Home Office continues to attract the attention of
media from around the world, even as far away as
Tokyo.
Humans make mistakes,
after all, no human is
perfect. One mistake
made in the 11th century
resulted in a 14,500 ton
leaning tower. This
miscalculation would
later become a symbol
of civic pride. The
learning tower of Pisa,
known as Torre
Pendente di Pisa in
Italian, is different
than most medieval
architecture. This particular section won't cover
the highly advanced construction techniques that
were used, it is important to mention how this
tower's design is significant. Utilizing many
columns and archs, this tower represents an
advanced understanding of weight and load
characteristics, showing the Italian architectures'
knowledge. What the architect didn't account for
however, was the base of the tower being built on a
dense section of clay.
