When I came to Pozna I knew only three phrases in Polish Hello, Good bye, and
Thank you. I was afraid of how I would be able to cope with the language and life
here. I didnt know anybody. My family was in Russia, far away from me. Yet I was
determined to stay and start studies in Pozna. The first months were tough, but it
wasnt long that I made new friends. They helped me accommodate, and longing for
my family and relatives wasnt that terrible.

I come from Guinea, a country located in West Africa, but now I live in Poland.
I decided to start my studies at WSB University in Pozna and I dont regret that
decision. My specialization is IT. The IT sector is developing very dynamically and
I have no doubts that my qualifications acquired at WSB will be a guarantee for great

International cooperation
At WSB I have managed to participate in student mobility programs twice. I have
had an opportunity to study at two different partner universities in Europe. Thanks
to this I have met and made friends with a lot of wonderful people from all over the
world. I have gained international experience and improved my foreign language
skills. Such mobility programs, and especially Erasmus+, are a great chance for
students to become more competitive on the labor market. Without any hesitation I
can recommend Erasmus+ to anybody. At no point will you regret this experience.

Erasmus+ is an EU
mobility program
for education,
training, youth and sport. We have been
actively participating in the program
since 1999. Students can participate
in the Erasmus+ student exchange
program in one of WSB partner schools
across Europe. While doing their study
periods abroad students are exempted
from tuition fee at WSB. Students
also have the opportunity for doing
a 3-month internship in different

Practical information for students
Getting to and around Pozna
By air awica Pozna Airport
is served by daily domestic and
international flights and is situated
6 km from the city center and our
university. awica Pozna Airport has
a good bus connection with the center
of Pozna.
By train There are fast and express
train connections between Pozna and
Berlin and Warsaw (approximately
a 3-hour trip) as well as other
destinations in Poland and Europe.
The main railway station is situated in
the city center, not far from the WSB
University campus (10 minutes on foot).
By bus There is an extensive network
of bus connections between Pozna
and larger Polish and European cities.
The International Bus Station is located
close to the main railway station.
By car Pozna is an important road
and railroad junction situated about
300 km from both Berlin and Warsaw.
Getting to Pozna from Berlin by car
takes about 3 hours.
Public transportation
Pozna is served by an extensive public
transportation system operated by
the Municipal Transport Company
(MPK). The city transportation system
operates 24 hours a day and comprises
bus and tram routes and the Pozna
Fast Tramway (PST). Using public
transportation is advisable not only
because of rush hour traffic jams but
also because of its low cost. Students

The Polish unit of currency is the zloty
(PLN), made up of 100 groszy (gr). You

Practical information for students
Labor market
EU students are allowed to work in
Poland without any work permits. Many
of them do part-time or temporary
jobs. Non-EU students are allowed to
work on the basis of a Student Visa or
Temporary Residence Permit.
Temporary Residence Permit

of no more than three years (after this
period students have to reapply for the

Insurance
EU and EFTA students should obtain
a European Health Insurance Card
(EHIC) before coming to Poland. The
card entitles its holder to use public
health care services in the territory of
Poland. The EHIC is issued free.
Students from non-EU/EEA countries
should purchase their own international
medical insurance prior to their arrival
in Poland. Otherwise they are required
to sign a voluntary health insurance
agreement with the National Health
Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia
NFZ) and pay their own insurance
fees. Under this insurance scheme,
students are entitled to free medical
care . Also, all foreign students have the
option of purchasing additional accident
