PROPOSAL ON HOW TO OVERCOME RECYCLE PROBLEM IN CAMPUS

INTRODUCTION:

Recycling is a process to convert waste materials into reusable material to prevent waste of

potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials,

reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution

(from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal and lower greenhouse

gas emissions as compared to plastic production. Recycling is a key component of modern

waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce,Reuse and Recycle" waste

hierarchy.

Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, metal, plastic, textiles

and electronics. The composting or other reuse of biodegradable waste such as food or

garden wasteis also considered recycling. Materials to be recycled are either brought to a

collection center or picked up from the curbside, then sorted, cleaned and reprocessed into

new materials destined for manufacturing.

THE PRODUCTS THAT CAN BE RECYCLE IN CAMPUS:

1. Plastic

Plastic include: soft drink bottles, mouthwash bottles, detergent, cleaners, milk and

juice jugs, shampoo bottles, bleach, and detergent containers. It can determine by the

type of recyclable plastic you have by looking on the bottom of the plastic for the

recycling symbol with a number in the middle, signifying the plastic type.

2. Paper

Paper include: office paper, coloured paper, newspaper, magazines, brochures/flyers,

catalogs and junk mail/envelopes/folders.

3. Aluminium

Aluminium can be recycled over and over again without any loss to quality. In fact, an

aluminium beverage container can be recycled and back on the shelf in 60 days. The

example of aluminium are beverage cans, aluminium foil, aluminium baking trays and

pie pans.

4. Glass

Recycled glass saves 50 percent energy versus virgin glass, and recycling just one glass

container saves enough energy to light a 100-watt bulb for four hours. The most likely

glass are such as jars and bottles.

5. Computers

Computers can be recycled in a couple of ways, depending on the state of the machine.

Giving old, working computers to friends and family members or donating them to non-

profit organizations not only keeps the computer entirely out of the waste stream, but it

presents computer access to someone who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

THE BEST WAY TO PROMOTE RECYCLING AMONG THE STUDENTS:

1. Recycling bins: In the campus, the college party in collaboration with cleaning staff must

increase the number of recycling bins and must be located across campus, including outside

recycling islands. These bins need to be check daily by the Environmental Safety

2. Services staff members. Our current bin system includes 1 blue bin for all paper types and 1

gray bin are for plastics and aluminium. All cardboard must be flattened and placed behind

recycling bins. Ink cartridges, batteries, or cell phones can be placed in a separate container

next to a recycling bin for pickup.

3. Eagle Box: Those interested in participating in the campuss recycling program will be

provided a cardboard box called an Eagle Box or a blue recycling waste bin, if available.

This box is for conveniently collecting recycled material at the participants desk. Once the

Eagle Box is full, empty it in the larger recycling containers located in hallways, offices, or

break rooms for Eagle Box disposals.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, we learned a lot of reasons why recycling is important in our community

and especially in campus. We learned about waste and how some waste can be reused

or recycled into other products. Thus, recycling can be a greatest success if all the

students are taking part in this applicability program.
