TOPIC: REDEVELOPMENT OF DRUG TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION CENTER

IN QUEZON CITY

PROBLEM:
On May 30, 2016 President Rodrigo Duterte proclaimed as the President-elect of the

Philippines. Since duterte was elected there are many laws and orders that he advocates and one

of those is the anti-drug campaign. In the first three months of Duterte's term in office, according

to police figures, over 3,000 killings were attributed to his nationwide anti-drug campaign. Since

then many drug addicts and pushers have surrendered to the authority in which the administration

considered it as a happy problem but then again, the drug rehabilitation centers was not ready

for this action. There are only 44 drug rehabilitation centers across the country and these can only

hold a maximum of 5,000 persons. Out of 44 drug rehabilitation centers, 15 are state-run while the

rest are privately operated.

Because of the sudden increase of the drug addicts and pushers that have surrendered and

captured, this lead to a problem which is the lack of the drug rehabilitation centers in the

Philippines and the lack of budget for the rehabilitation center. Another problem is the congested

situation of the people in the rehabilitation center there is no enough and sufficient space for the

users that lead to the congested situation of the drug rehabilitation centers.
