Applications

Paravan 25X-LB is a biodegradable, essentially non-toxic, high boiling alternative to solvents, specially
formulated to remove asphaltene and wax deposits from mineral surfaces in the reservoir rock leaving
behind a water wet environment. Paravan 25X-LB does not contribute to the depletion of the earths
stratosphere ozone layer. It contains no petroleum solvents, chlorine or heavy metals. The mayor
component of Paravan 25X-LB is derived from pine resin and therefore the product has a characteristic
pine aroma. Paravan 25X-LB is a terpene-based solvent blended with an environmentally friendly
surfactant package. The surfactants in the blend are excellent asphaltene dispersants that enable
Paravan 25X-LB to cleanse asphaltene and wax deposits in either water dispersions or hydrocarbon
solutions.
It is usually assumed that if asphaltene and wax deposition has occurred in the matrix, then the rock is oil
wet. Xylene has been used historically to remove these organic deposits as it disperses asphaltene and
dissolves wax deposits, but xylene is not able to water wet the rock since it lacks a polar adsorbing micelle
structure. Paravan 25X-LB effectively rinses the oil wet surfaces and prevents re-adsorption of asphaltene
by leaving the surfaces water wet.

Paravan 25X-LB solutions are compatible with crude oil and will not cause emulsions

Cement Spacer for Oil Base Mud

Can be used to improve mud removal from oil-based systems and to dissolve dope from tubulars.

Paravan 25X-LB is safer for employees and the environment than other aromatic solvents.
