Introduction
iRig BlueBoard is the first wireless MIDI pedalboard for iOS and Mac that allows you to control
your music apps and more from the floor, without being tethered to your device. Now you can
wirelessly control parameters of your MIDI-compatible apps like AmpliTube. Switch between
presets, change patches, turn effects on and off and control effects like volume and wah, all from
the stage floor without worrying about tripping over wires. Setup is as simple as turning the iRig
BlueBoard on and telling it what you want to control.

iRig BlueBoard features four backlit pads, two TRS expansion jacks for connecting additional
MIDI controllers like expression pedals. Connect iRig BlueBoard to your iPhone, iPod touch, or
iPad via Bluetooth, and when you press its footswitches, it sends out control signals that are
converted to MIDI by iRig BlueBoards control application. The MIDI messages are available to
any MIDI compatible app you're running on your iOS device.

The control messages sent from iRig BlueBoard to AmpliTube or other Core MIDI music apps
can include MIDI Program Change for browsing presets and patches, and MIDI Control Change
for specific parameter control.

Before using your iRig BlueBoard you need to download the iRig BlueBoard control application
from the App Store. The application is free and works on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Application Overview

Hardware Connection

Before launching the iRig BlueBoard app, be sure to enable the Bluetooth on your iOS device
and turn on your iRig BlueBoard. Once loaded the iRig BlueBoard app searches for devices. A
list will show the available devices, just tap on the device name to complete the hardware
connection.
Once connected, you can customize your devices name. Just tap the MENU button in the upper
bar and go to the Settings page. Then tap on the RENAME button in the rename device section.

If for some reason the connection is lost, tap on the BlueBoard icon to restart the connection
process.
Modes

iRig BlueBoard app can work in two main modes: PROGRAM CHANGE mode or CONTROL
CHANGE mode. The mode type determines which kind of MIDI messages will be sent from the
four main A B C D switches.

iRig BlueBoard has 32 banks of A B C D switches, for a total of 128.

In PROGRAM CHANGE MODE all switches send program changes from 1 to 128, so the first
bank has A B C D assigned to PC1 PC2 PC3 PC4, the second bank has A B C D assigned to
PC5 PC6 PC7 PC8 and so forth... in PROGRAM CHANGE MODE, these assignments are not
editable.
Select PROGRAM CHANGE MODE to browse presets or patches in your Core MIDI
applications.
In CONTROL CHANGE MODE all switches send control changes from 0 to 127, so by default
the first bank has A B C D assigned to CC0 CC1 CC2 CC3, the second bank has A B C D
assigned to CC4 CC5 CC6 CC7 and so forth. These assignments are editable, just tap on the
CC number you want to change, and choose a different value from the scroll list.

Select CONTROL CHANGE MODE to control specific parameters in your Core MIDI
applications.
By default the app is in PROGRAM CHANGE mode. To change the mode, open the main MENU
in the upper bar and select Settings, then choose the mode you prefer from the MODES section.

bank Browsing

You can browse banks through the application or through iRig BlueBoard itself. To browse banks
through the app just tap the UP and DOWN arrows, the number in the center will show the
current bank.
You can also rename the current bank by tapping on the bottom bar.
To browse banks through the board, just press and hold the A switch for three seconds to bank
up and hold the B switch for three seconds to bank down. The application will refresh, showing
the current bank in the central yellow display.

Note: To browse banks through the board, be sure to enable the ALLOW BANK CHANGE
preference inside Settings. When ALLOW BANK CHANGE is enabled, the ABCD switches will
trigger on release.

Send PROGRAM CHANGE while in CONTROL CHANGE MODE.

In Control Change Mode, its possible to send a Program change when switching to a new bank.
You can set this feature ON or OFF in the Settings page.

The Program change assigned to each bank can be edited to fit your needs. Just tap on the PC
label right under the bank number to change its value.

This feature allows you to browse presets in your Core MIDI application by sending a PC when
the bank is changed. The PC number value defaults to the bank number itself.

MIDI Channel

You can select the preferred MIDI channel by tapping the grey button, then select the value you
want from the scroll list

By default iRig BlueBoard sends MIDI messages on ALL channels.

External Control Calibration

External continuous controllers (like expression pedals) need to be calibrated in order to work
properly.

Tap on the main MENU on the upper bar and go to the Settings page, scroll and find the
calibration sections for external controls. Tap the START button to start the calibration process.

iRig BlueBoard Backlight

iRig BlueBoard features a switchable low-intensity blue light that illuminates all four footswitches,
and makes the whole pedalboard visible on a dark stage.

Tap on the main MENU in the upper bar and select SETTINGS, then scroll and find the iRig
BlueBoard Backlight section

The backlight can be turned ON or OFF, and thanks to a 15-position slider, you can adjust its
intensity.
