SAP Business ByDesign Setup

1. Introduction to Manual
Since SAP Business ByDesign is a cloud based ERP system, students can setup the SAP Business
ByDesign to be used on their laptops.

Important note: SAP ByDesign assignment cannot be done using Google Chrome browser. Therefore,
please use other browsers (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari) to complete the preparation steps as
well as the assignment.

2. System Preparations for SAP Business ByDesign

Please note that for using SAP Business ByDesign Windows or Mac operating systems required.

A. Instructions for Windows Operating System

i. Install the following software components needed to run SAP Business ByDesign on your laptop.
These should take no more than a few minutes each to install.

Microsoft Silverlight, install from: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-

Started/Install/Default.aspx

Important note: Please do not use Google Chrome to download Microsoft Silvrlight or to do the
assignment.

If you have already installed Silverlight you will see this message, if not the installation
instructions will be shown on this page:

Java; if not already installed on your computer, install from:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

Click on and select the option relevant to your computer OS:

Follow the installation instructions for installation to finish.

Adobe Reader; if not already installed on your computer, install from

http://get.adobe.com/reader (Click on Install Now and follow the instructions for installation to
finish).

Adobe Flash Player; if not already installed on your computer, install from
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer (Click on Install Now and follow the instructions for installation
to finish).

ii. SAP Business ByDesign is compatible with Windows Internet Explorer (IE) on a Microsoft
Windows platform. In order to prepare IE, you need to configure IE to allow SAP ByDesign web
application access the resources it needs on your computer. In order to do so go to Internet
Options which can be found in the windows control panel or the IE setting menu.

Note 1: If you cannot find Internet Options in the control panel select Category- >Large Icons in
windows 7 and Switch to Classic view in sidebar of Windows XP. You can also find Internet Options in
the Tools menu of IE 8 or setting menu of IE 9 and IE10.

iii. In the Internet Options select the Security tab and under `Select a zone to view or change security
settings.`select Trusted sites.

Click on Sites button and type in https://sapbydesign.com in the Add this website to the zone and
click on Add. Then close the window.

iv. Now close this window and select Privacy tab. In the privacy tab under `Pop-up Blocker` click on
setting button.

In this menu enter sapbydesign.com under Address of website to allow and click on Add.

Close this window and the Internet Options.

Note 2: You need 32-bit Internet Explorer to run SAP ByDesign. If you using 64-bit Windows, make sure
you are running Internet Explorer (32-bit). To make sure you running 32-bit Internet Explorer press start
menu -> All Programs -> Select Internet Explorer without 64-bit in front or go to C:\Program Files
(x86)\Internet Explorer and run iexplore.exe.

B. Instructions for Mac OSX Operating System

i. Install the following software components needed to run SAP Business ByDesign on your laptop.
These should take no more than a few minutes each to install.

ii. SAP Business ByDesign is compatible with Mozilla Firefox on a Mac OSX platform. In order to
prepare Firefox, you need to configure Firefox to allow SAP ByDesign web application access
the resources it needs on your computer. In order to do so go to Firefoxs Preferences menu
which can be found in the Firefoxs menu in the top.

iii. Select Content and In front of Block pop-up windows click on Exceptions

iv. Enter sapbydesign.com in the Address of the website and click on Allow.

IMPORTANT TIP 1: Make sure that these preliminary steps have been finished before continuing.
If you do not complete these steps you will not be able to finish further steps required.

3. Student Login
SAP Business ByDesign is a cloud based business software solution. This means that no software needs
to be installed on a computer and that the system is accessible from anywhere at any time through an
internet browser. You can login in to SAP Business ByDesign system by using the following URL:

Username: Your MAC ID (your McMaster email address without @mcmaster.ca)

Password: Pass2KA3 (Password is case sensitive)

IMPORTANT TIP 2: If you enter password wrongly more than 3 times, your access to the system
will be locked. Be careful about the case sensitivity of password and remember your password for
future use. If you get locked by the system, email Sepideh Ebrahimi (s.ebrahimi@mcmaster.ca) to
reset your password.

3.1. When you go to the URL to access the cloud based software the following screen will appear
for you to enter your login details:

IMPORTANT TIP 3: First time you login into the system a screen will appear to change your password.
Select a new password for further access to the system. The password should be compromised of
CAPITAL LETTERS, lower case letters, and numbers with the length of at least 8 characters.
REMEMBER THE PASSWORD BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT FOR FURTHER ACCESS TO
THE SYSTEM.

3.2. Once you are logged in, the Home Screen will appear.

Note 3: The first time you enter the system, it will ask you to increase your storage so that SAP ByDesign
will be able to access the required amount of storage it needs for its operations. Click on OK and then Yes
to increase the storage amount for SAP ByDesign web application.
